LAKE MARY, Fla., May 13 (UPI) — Bidding for the handgun George Zimmerman used to shoot and kill Trayvon Martin in 2012 topped $65 million after Zimmerman moved the sale to a new auction site.


Zimmerman moved the auction to United Gun Group, an online firearms marketplace, on Thursday after it was rejected by Gunbroker.com. The starting bid of 5,000 quickly escalated to $65 million by 6 a.m. Friday.


Say what you want, $65 million is $65 million no matter how you cut it.

Early Friday, the bidding surpassed $65 million with the leading bidder using the screen name 'Racist McShootFace' before a person named Craig Bryant overtook the bidding on UnitedGunGroup.com (above)

I would never believe 65 at first glance. That's just way too much.

But if the headline read like 4 million, I'd probably find that plausible. A lot of $ out there.
