It's all about the RINGS and winning championships.

All The Right Moves: Why LeBron Made The Best Decision Possible

By Benny Vargas

You're 25 years old, you have two NBA MVP awards, more money than you can spend in a lifetime, but no titles. You can buy a chain of jewelry stores, and yet you don't have a single ring.

LeBron James made a choice last night that should be heralded and applauded, but instead it's been met with a tsunami of negative criticism. Don't we constantly rant and rave about how athletes don't care about teams or championships? Don't we always complain about how sports stars are only in it for the money?

By choosing Miami as his next team, LeBron squashed all the claims that he is an egocentric diva. James' critics claimed that he would never fit on Dwyane Wade's team because his pride wouldn't allow him to play with another (I despise using this phrase) "Alpha-Dog."

To put it simply, LeBron passed up over $35-40 million during the next five years so that he can play basketball at the very highest level with his two friends. Doesn't that scream of anything but narcissism? How many people do you know that would ever leave that many millions of dollars on the table? He sacrificed his "name brand," a huge amount of money, and also his home.

The easy choice for James would have been to stay in Ohio. He could've re-upped with Cleveland, signed a max contract, and stayed in his home state while most fans there would've never cared if he won a championship.

But he didn't take the easy way out. He chose to push all his chips into the middle of the table and said "I'm all in." His legacy and reputation have all been mortgaged for the possibility to "make history."

In every interview with Bosh, Wade, and James, they all stated the same thing, that they want to win. That they would rather sacrifice money and play at a discount in order to be champions. They chose a potential dynasty and team success over being much richer but irrelevant during the NBA Finals.

This is something that should be looked upon with admiration, not disdain. Not only did he open himself up to this backlash, not only did he let his wallet take a hard hit, not only did he swallow his so called pride, but he also helped make a huge contribution to a worthy cause (The Boys and Girls Club). In the end, James made the single hardest decision he could have.

LeBron is moving to Miami knowing full well that all the expectations and pressure will now be placed upon him and his teammates, and based on the statements he made last night I think that's just the way he wants it.

if anything it proves hes more of an egotistic maniac. like the article says he has all the money in the world everything everyone can want but NO rings. so hes so damn worried that he needs the ring to soothe his ego and have every one think of him as the greatest he sells his soul and takes the easy way out and joins a dream team instead of utilizing his talents on his own and bringing himself a ring, not being handed one.

If he came to NY,I'm sure you'd be praising him.

WRONG! I have never been a Knicks fan. I grew up loving Jordan & the Bulls. After him it was those awesome Kings teams with Divac, Peja, Jackson, & Webber. Now I like the Suns & Warriors due to their uptempo style. Personally the NBA is my least favorite professional sport. I call it as I see it when it comes to LeBron who is nothing but a kid trapped in a man's body, end of discussion!

Via NY Daily News
League sources have told the New York Daily News that Pat Riley will at some point replace Erik Spoelstra as head coach of the Heat.”Pat won’t come back for just Wade and Bosh, because that’s not a sure thing in Pat’s mind,” said one Eastern Conference coach before Miami officially landed LeBron James.
“But with LeBron and those two, that’s a sure thing for Pat. He will come back if they get LeBron.”
First SVG, now Spolestra…Pat Riley is an absolute shameless scumbag…back to fetching tape Erik.

Don't hate the players, hate the game!

Heat would have been much better off without Bosh. If you can get Lebron and Wade and have 20-25M to spend on 3-4 mid level guys you would be locks to win the championship.

If you read and believe Brian Windhorst's article (Cleveland Plain Dealer) on the whole Lebron thing, I think it's very clear that Wade, Bosh, and James planned this thing out over the past few years. This whole "decision" on ESPN was a total scam in that this had been decided months ago. If David Stern cares at all about the "integrity" of the NBA, he should be mad as hell. James and company played everyone. Here's the link to the article :

Interesting article!:grandmais

............................................................

Eddie Johnson, HoopsHype:

I am not surprised by King James’ decision and I believe that these three stars can coexist. Mainly because I think LeBron is the most unselfish basketball star in the league along with Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Steve Nash. Points have never mattered to him and it’s all based on the belief that he can dominate a game without scoring a bunch of points.

I expect LeBron to mesh with Wade and Bosh just like Magic Johnson did with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy and like Larry Bird did with Kevin McHale and Robert Parish.

I firmly believe he will flirt with averaging a triple-double next season as well.
People, please think before you call him a traitor and selfish. Remember most athletes are maligned for chasing the money… He is leaving 30 million on the table and a city that he owned. This move seems all about him thinking a championship can be won in Miami and that is it. He can be wrong like Cavs owner Dan Gilbert said would occur in the end, but right now he made a career decision and in America that’s why we fought wars – so we can have freedom to make choices.
So now let’s look at past greats of the game.

Bill Russell had John Havlicek, Bob Cousy, Jo-Jo White and Sam Jones; Magic Johnson had Kareem, Worthy and Byron Scott; Larry Bird had Kevin McHale, Robert Parish and Dennis Johnson; Isiah Thomas had Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer, Dennis Rodman, Vinnie Johnson and perennial All-Star Mark Aguirre; Michael Jordan had Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman; Tim Duncan had David Robinson, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker for multiple championships. Kobe Bryant now has Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Ron Artest and Andrew Bynum.

So I ask… What is LeBron is doing differently? I am sure Wade and Bosh would have seriously thought about going to Cleveland as a duo if they had the cap space for all three.

This is about joining forces to win championships and we have to applaud the sacrifice that these great players are trying to execute for the good of winning.
LeBron and Bosh have heard the negative comments about the lack of titles, so it’s fitting they make the sacrifice to join a player in Wade who has experienced winning a title.

Michael Jordan got ripped for being selfish and not living up to expectations his first seven years and I ask… Who are we constantly comparing LeBron to?
When James realized Cleveland would not be able to get him the kind of help past stars had, that made his decision easier. And, quite frankly, I think he made up his mind two years ago.

I thought Danny Ferry did a tremendous job, but he made a fatal mistake in not chasing down spot up shooters like Channing Frye, Eddie House, Kyle Korver, etcetera, to surround James. It forced James to score more than he would like when it was obvious from Day 1 he enjoyed passing the ball. The mistake was thinking he was the second coming of Jordan instead of Magic Johnson. When teams like Boston and Orlando locked in on him come playoff time, he didn’t have the Steve Kerrs, John Paxsons and Derek Fishers of the world to trust when he gave the ball up.

I also assume he would say, “Look, if you are going to make less money, why not do it and have fun in South Beach?”

I personally wanted him to stay in Cleveland, but who am I to judge him on this decision? This is his career and he knows that if he didn’t win a title he would be labeled the biggest failure up to date in basketball history. So although I understand why Cleveland, New York, New Jersey, Clippers and Chicago might feel jilted from the results of last night, they still have to respect his decision because if Miami finds a few components this trio could win multiple championships starting next year.

We are all witnesses and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out in 2011.

“For myself, 44 minutes is too much,” James declared. “I think Coach Spo knows that. Forty minutes for D-Wade is too much. We have to have as much energy as we can to finish games out.”

What a D-BAG he is. Bron Bron has an excuse for everything. Most MVP's would want to play the whole game against the conference rival.

I think there was another thread on this, but I couldn't find it via search... I just watched "more than a game" and have a new respect for Lebron. Good documentary in general, and if anything it showed that this was a good kid. I don't and never will know what type of man Lebron James is, but being able to deal with all the ridiculousness he did - fans treating him like a grown man when he was so young, dealing with the issue of accepting gifts, and his suspension - all the while playing at a high level... it was very impressive to watch. I won't ever root for him, because the c's have already had too many battles with him to do so, but I don't think I'll root against him quite as hard.
