Chip Kelly has just been named the new head coach for the 49ers. No inside
information but guessing Alabama OC Lane Kiffin will get strong consideration
for offensive coordinator from Kelly.

Kelly was in Tuscaloosa during Bama's preparation for the Clemson game. Some
speculate he was there to observe Kiffin.

Chip Kelly to the 49ers.........Wow......I though he would end-up back in the college ranks after his stint with the Eagles.....Kind-of-like Spurrier after his brief run with the Redskins and then, on to South Carolina.

did kelly have a figure head OC in philly? i gotta believe due to his short my syndrome power/ego thing he would want to much control imo.. Kiffin would be nuts to leave Bama, his reputation is almost rebuilt and he has done a great job there. I would think he would want to land a HC job next ?

Kiffin turned down UCLA last week to be their offensive coordinator. My thinking is
he will stay at Alabama another season or he will go to the NFL. He's got a great college
assistant job so can't see a lateral move to another college unless as head coach.

NFL may be attractive for Kiffin after proving himself the past two seasons.

Agree he stays at Bama. I'm sure he wants to be a head coach again, so working under Saban another year would probably be the best route for him to take.

Might be waiting on Saban to retire or leave. I believe he hits his state retirement next year.

He's going to get some looks from NFL teams. I can't see him going to SF to be Chip's lackey. But I could see him in Atlanta to be the OC or maybe he gets a chance in StL (soon to be LA) or Cincy.

Cincy OC would be interesting. I think kiffin could have some fun with those weapons. Either way I think they are doomed under Marvin lewis. He's got them this far, they need to move on. (Sorry Off topic a little there)

Kiffin has that "school-boy" look that would go over big in the San Francisco Bay area......I have no idea how old he is.

I saw Lane and his two daughters after the championship game and it was really neat to watch. I don't know how
to post videos here at the RX but this one was fun to watch.

I believe Kiffin will serve one more year with the Tide and then move on. He seems to have found a peace/confidence
that he had lost. I strongly suggest he will be successful at his next head coach stop.

Lane Kiffin was nothing but a rat's ass to me when he was hired by Saban. I've come to really like the guy and respect
his ability as a football coach.

The players like him, the other coaches like him and more important...Saban likes him.
