Bama fan here. I'd be shocked if Cam plays, although all reports from practice say he's running with the 2's. High ankle sprains typically take 3-4 weeks to heal. You can run on a high ankle sprain all day, but it's those quick lateral movements that are difficult and it's those lateral movements that often times cause re-injury. I doubt he's pushing the ankle to game-type extremes in practice, and I'd assume the staff would have him running with the 1's if they were optimistic about his chances of playing. But, I'd love to be wrong.
I haven't heard the bad prognosis for Yeldon. If true, this adds to my list of growing concerns about this game. Yeldon has returned to form this year after having some nagging injuries last year, but Derrick Henry is a shell of the running back he was against Oklahoma. If Henry is the lead back on Saturday, he's going to need to run the football harder. Period. He's 6'3, 240 and doesn't have great lateral quickness. If there's not a hole, lower your head, get 2 yards, and play for the next play. But this tiptoeing behind the line of scrimmage like he's Barry Sanders business needs to stop before Saturday.
I have a bad feeling about the game for some reason, and I look forward you to telling me why I am wrong. My concerns are:
1) Sims hasn't looked great on the road, and Saturday will be 10x the atmosphere and hostility of his other road tests.
2) They will make someone other than Cooper beat them.
3) Can we get a consistent push upfront, especially if Cam doesn't play? Our OL play has been hit-or-miss so far.
4) LSU has a solid offensive line.
5) Special teams/trick plays
6) Ragland had surgery this week on his hand.
With that said, I'm confident in our defense. I think everything clicked for our front 7 during the Arkansas game, and they've been playing lights out ever since. LSU will get their yards on the ground, but I think we hold them to somewhere around 150. And LSU doesn't have the QB or the receivers (this year) to exploit our secondary.
Like I said, I got a bad feeling. I see something like 20-17 LSU.
