Opened practice today with an afternoon practice for returning players and then an evening practice for incoming freshman and others. There have been a few rosters moves that I will update for anyone interested and I will also be at practice Saturday so I will let everyone know how that goes sometime on Sunday.

Because of the extreme lack of depth on Alabama's roster there will be some significant contributions from incoming freshmen. At least 3 incoming freshmen will start fall practice at the one of the outside LB positions. (Jerrell Harris, Glenn Harbin, and Michael Williams). I give Jerrell an outstanding chance of being in the 2 deep and a fair chance of getting the majority of snaps for the Clemson game on August 30th. Several incoming freshmen will be given a shot at the 2 deep at inside LB. I give Courtney Upshaw and Donta Hightower a fair chance at seeing action for the Clemson game.

Alabama may have a couple of incoming players that may see time on the DL. Marcel Dareus a true freshmen and Terrence Cody a Juco player. Look for Alonzo Lawrence to get some early work in the secondary and if not by Clemson then by the SEC schedule to play a significant role.

Offensively Alabama may have 2 WR that will see playing time early. Julio Jones and BJ Scott. There may be a RB or 2 that could get some carries but it wont be J. Preyear. He will sit out the fall and enroll in January because of shoulder surgery.

Alabama LB Prince Hall will not play in the Clemson game as he will be sitting out the 1st 3 games due to a suspension. Not good news for the Tide in probably their weakest area talent and depth wise.

More news to come....

It will be interesting to see tomorrow how many of these true freshmen will be in the 2 deep when the entire team practices together. Too many is my estimate. Alabama may be a better overall team this year talent wise, but with so many freshmen and so little experience they are still way below the top SEC teams.

Updates

Keep the updates coming. Tide fan in the north. I think Bama is still underrated this year with big OL, new fresh talent at WR, CB. LB depth is biggest weakness, but Saban will compensate (wouldn't mind seeing packages with 5 DBs).

How is AU #11 in coaches poll w/ no experience at QB?!

I like the future Bama +2.5 at home in the Iron Bowl.

What do you think?

Roll Tide.

Is Julio Jones participating in camp? If so, how is this kid looking? I really liked him as an upcoming recruit and know that he is a quick target and can be compared to Benn from Illinois.

I am from Knoxville and although our secondary will be the strong point, this kid has got to have everyone a little shaky.

A question mark is better than Brandon Cox.

Thanks for the updates, Book.

LSU actually has less experience than Auburn at qb but they are ranked higher than Auburn in the poll so get over it.

Just sayin...You put 8 in the box against AU, you have a shot no matter who you are, just ask Miss St. It's been that way since Cadillac, Brown left. They stay in every game with defense, never impress with offense. TT does it every year. I think their ranking is based on their schedule, not on their talent level. Adjusting to two new coordinators will be interesting to watch. Very unpredictable team this year- could be in the SEC title game, could be 7-5.

Btw, Tuberville will be gone within the next two years. Write it down. After Saban rakes all the talent from in-state for 3 straight years, the AU alum will finally throw in the towel... they've had the towel in their hands with their arm cocked since Jet Gate w/ Petrino. Now he doesn't have that pansy Shula to run over in recruiting.

Of course, this is a Bama fan talking.

Over/Under 2.5 years Tuberville fired... UNDER :howdy:

GrilledCheese, welcome to the board.

An Alabama fan talking sh*t about Auburn right now is almost as ridiculous as an FSU fan talking about UF. TT owns Alabama right now, and until they win a game it would look better to keep quiet (JMO).

BTW, Auburn has changed their offense and will be running a spread option (coached by Troy's former OC, Franklin). They will be very good this year and will likely win the West.....

... yeah yeah, I know all about the Rush Propst offense.

TT's dominance over Bama is the only reason he's still there. Thanks Shula. I hate Shula (and Mal Moore as far as that hire goes) more than I hate TT or Fulmer.

Thanks for the welcome.
