They don't announce this til way after the regular season is over...sometime in mid november...Baseball likes to spread out its awards over as much of the offseason as possible...

Hard to see how Ichiro wins it again playing for such a bad team, but who knows. I think he is the choice if voters can't find it within themselves to vote for Manny, who probably is most deserving of it.

If Bonds doesn't win it, they should stop giving the award out. We will have to see what Bill James says about it in time, but he just might be having the greatest season ever. To hit 45 dingers, 101 RBIs and have a batting average over .370 when they walk you about 225 times is an incredible season. As the announcers say, he might get one good pitch to hit per at-bat and he still produces MVP numbers.

AL sheffield / but manny very very close second really tough. shef was the true MVP imo hitting numerous clutch shots to win games late and singley handedly carrying the bronx bombers when the only other guy hitting reasonably well was matsui. however, manny had the more impressive season stat wise so you have to see what dances in those writers minds.

NL bonds carried his team and a very impressive year stat wise i think thats your winner but pujols also had a great year not too far off stat wise and led the cards to the best record in the bigs. the writers asked barry questions all season long about this and that not getting a whole lot out of him they might just fist him and vote pujols out of revenge

youre kidding yourself if you think it will be anyone besides those 4

i heard gammons say rivera should get it (AL mvp) , but im sorry you dont blow two saves to your rival even if he is the greatest closer of all time.

i know pitcher have their own award but Santana could also win MVP right? He is putting up Koufax type numbers. 23 straight starts lowering his ERA?

I really think that since there is a very good chance that the Giants are not going to make the playoffs and the Dodgers will, I will guess that Beltre will win the MVP even though Bonds has better stats overall. Besides Bonds already has a closet full of MVP's
Al
Manny or Sheffield ? Very close and may be decided in next few days.

Kermit- I just dont see Sheffield over Manny.

HOME RUNS

Manny 43
Gary 36

RBI

Manny 129
Gary 119

AVG

Manny .310
Gary .292

Not to mention Manny making gold glove defensive plays what seems every other night.

Man, Beltre has been so VALUABLE to the Dodgers!

But by God, look at the numbers Bonds is putting up!...........they are absolutely mindboggling!

I read today that if you took away EVERY BASEHIT that Barry has this year, he would still have a higher on base percentage with his 200+ walks than over 600 players in the majors!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! WOW!

Regardless of Bond's awesome stats, I still believe the MVP will go to the one who's team makes the playoffs and right now that looks like the Dodgers... but there is still 6 games to be played and 3 head to head. It will be fun to watch !Pujols would be a worthy recipient also but perhaps He gets hurt by 2 other good candidates on his own team.

KERMIT- Much like Ortiz will hurt Manny and his chances.

I still say BONDS wins the NL MVP...........the numbers are to much to ignore.

ps- please note Kermit, three weeks ago my pick was Beltre.......until I just couldnt ignore the numbers Barry is putting up.
