The bottom line is that Yusmeiro Petit is not anywhere close to being in the same league as Matt Cain. Y. Petit has not even pitched an inning this season. The last time he threw a game he got annihilated.. seriously.. I'm not even exaggerating. In his last performance he lost 14-2 to the Marlins back in 2006. Now on to the winning pitcher of this upcoming game. He has yet to record a win in start 3 starts, but this is not his fault at all. In his first start he received a no decision after coming out in the 7th with a 3-3 ball game. He then lost his second start because of zero run support, they lost 1-0. His most recent start.. he again pitched a gem. He threw 7 scoreless innings and came out with a 3-0 lead and lost 5-3. So he received his second no decision of the season. He is 0-1 with a phenomenal 1.80 ERA. As I stated earlier, he is by far the much better pitcher and the fact that he's been in a groove all season long is going to make the struggling Dbax offensively-challenged this afternoon.
The Dbax did start off the season very well, but they are slumping really hard. They only won 1 game out of their last 6. On the other hand, the Giants are extremely on fire. They have won 4 in a row and 6 out of their last 7. Again this is a case of the struggling road team and a good home team, just as my L.A. Angel's winner the other night. In this situation the Dbax have dropped 3 straight on the road w/ an extremely struggling offense. In their last 2 games at San Francisco they have only scored 2 runs combined. You can count on them not scoring much either against a very balanced Matt Cain.
In this situation.. take the home team that has been on fire w/ a great pitcher on the mound searching to get over .500 for the first time all season. Put it this way.. it's going to very hard for Y. Petit to go on the road in his first game of the season and throw a good game. It's not going to happen and I am banking on the Giants to continue this hot streak with a 2+ run victory.
Good Luck to everyone today!
