Who would have thought the Vikings would be over .500, let alone 6-0 without there 1300 yd running back. Without Michael Bennett the Vikings looked like they would have no running game and that would help defenses key on Moss. Moe Williams and O.Smith prived a 2 headed rushing monster which opens up the pass game. But the defenses still key on Moss, always double teaming him, and often putting triple coverage on his side. Moss still finds away to make the catches. He changes game plans. One simple play fake to Moss' side, and the whole defense freezes. In an instant, Kelly Campbell becomes John Taylor. In an instant, Gus Ferotte becomes Dan Marino. If There are still some people that don't believe that Moss is the best WR in the game because of his work ethic....look again. Maybe watch a video of a Vikings game. He has evolved into a complete receiver. He is one of the best at blocking downfield. He catches the first down passes, sometimes going into the middle with a safety right behind him and a cb clinging to his side. Moss had 10 catches for 150 yards this week and no TD's....Thats right no Touchdowns. Yet if you ask anyone on the opposing team...they'd probably say he had 3. The man is a one man wrecking machine. We havent seen this type of dominance from a WR in a long, long time. Moss might have a game where he touches the ball once and still dominates the game. Moss and Jerry Rice, the all time best wr ever have very similar numbers through their first 6 seasons. Check out these gaudy numbers, and try to remember this man is a wideout:
Moss: 5 years and 6 games.
Games: 86
Touchdowns: 66
Receptions: 453
Rec Yards: 7409
Avg/Recpt: 16.4
Rice: First 6 years
Games: 92
Touchdowns: 79 (amazing 22 in 12 games in 87)
Receptions: 446
Rec Yards: 7866
This is why the Vikings have a chance to reach their 3rd Championship game since Moss has become a Vikings. Maybe they will take one more step this year and get to the big dance! If it was aonly up to Moss....you know they'd be there.
