So I started an open parlay today for the first time. I placed a 6 team parlay for $100. I hit my first five of the parlay and have one left. What do you guys think the best way to hedge this would be? Right now, my parlay stands to return $813.94 if I take a bet at -110. Would you guys close it out with a big favorite? Or should I take a spread at -110 and bet the other side? I appreciate any help. Please forgive me, this is honestly the first time I've bet an open parlay!

You hit 5 out of your first 5 so you must be doing somethig right. Some people will say hedge and guarantee profits but you risked $100 to win a lot more and you took a chance so just go with your gut. If you're scared to keep going then cash on a heavy ML favorite. I personally would pick the last game at -110 and just take a chance. It's only $100 after all. I guess my opinion is, if you didn't want to 6 game parlay it then you should have closed it at 5. But then you'd probably post the same thing after hitting 4!

I hear you, Alex. On my site, I cannot close a parlay whenever I want. I meant I need to hit one more to close out the parlay. On my site, I started a parlay, picked my first game and added 5 open spots. I guess you're right though. If it were for a couple grand, I would definitely hedge it. I might just take a -110 spread and hedge the other side for $100. So I'd either break even or take a $703 profit. I'm still curious if there are other ways to hedge these parlays. I know most of the guys on this site are VERY knowledgeable and know the best way to close it out. Thanks for the advice Alex!

Take SMU ML vs. Tulane and take your free money. I hedged yesterday in the exact same situation. My parlay hit (so the hedge was unnecessary technically). I would do it again though.

The hedge is the smart play 10/10 times.

Or take SMU ML to close parlay - then bet Tulane +20 for a couple of units and try to hit both

Let's not forget..... You won't be "closing" these very often. Just giving away money over time.

Obviously (based on your math)...... You have already had mostly money line favs in the first five spots. This is not "really" a 5-6 team parlay. Due to money lines not the same as some might think from your title.

Don't think these are easy..... Or you risk losing your twig and berries.

Good luck. Any bet you don't understand..... Is a questionable bet.

Did you have Man U in there?
I would bet a fave on the ml but not a huge fave and bet the dog for a try at a middle for 2,3 hundred or half the payout. Take the money and have a chance at a middle to hit both

Hey packer2012, contrary to your belief, I'm not a complete dumb ass. If this isn't a 5-6 team parlay, then what is it called??? Last time I checked, if you play faves or dogs, its still called a PARLAY. So when you say that it's not really a parlay, then please tell me what it is. Thanks for pointing out that I was taking mostly favorites.
Like I said in my first post, this is the first time I have done one. It was for $100, wow! And it's not like I don't "understand" the bet, I was simply asking people what they thought the best way to close it out was. Jeeze, well hope you have a wonderful day! And thanks for your "advice."

boss415,
I didn't have them in my so called "parlay" but I did take them SU and I woke up to a win. So, thank you buddy!!!!!

Makes up nicely for the foul on 3 attempt in hawaii!
Serious though you should guarantee money either way. How bout Cal ml usc + points ? I used to be a huge parlay player and now rarely play them. It is ironic when i hedge i shouldnt have and when i dont i lose almost every time. The reason you went open spots is so you could hedge so just do it and stop thinking. It is automatic to take the money with march madness coming up you need every bullet in the gun you can get.I would pick a side i liked and hedge the other side for less

Thats exactly what I was thinking! I may as well just take a guaranteed profit. Even though it's not a guy payoff

Yes sir ! Take the money and run even if you want to take a side you like more just hedge for less like 2/3 rd or something. You can still take a position but get something if you lose your side also give yourself a shot at a middle.

Slept in till 8:30 and got a late start. On Seton Hall which looks good. There are alot of spreads in the 5, 6 range out there today. A good game for a possible miidle would be minn/ ill later. Should be a dog fight
