MINNEAPOLIS -- As the Minnesota Vikings prepare to head out into the free agent market to find a veteran quarterback, their franchise player has some ideas about what they should do next.

Running back Adrian Peterson is interested in the team bringing Michael Vick to Minnesota to be the next starting quarterback. The 2012 NFL MVP tweeted on Wednesday night that Vick "would intently make the Vikings a playoff team!"

The 34-year-old Vick started just six games for the Philadelphia Eagles last season before losing his job to Nick Foles through a hamstring injury. He hasn't started more than 13 games in a season since 2006, and it wouldn't seem like Vick is the best fit for new offensive coordinator Norv Turner's offense. But considering the Vikings' quarterback situation, it's difficult to rule anything out
Christian Ponder is the only Vikings quarterback under contract at the moment, after Matt Cassel opted out of his 2014 contract with the Vikings in February. Josh Freeman, whom the Vikings signed to a one-year, $2 million deal and used in one game, is also a free agent.

Vick might actually be one of the more credible options in a thin free agent market that includes Cassel, Freeman, Josh McCown and David Garrard.

I would agree that he would be an upgrade over what they have.

Playoffs? Probably not.

I thought Vick played really good, except for two things. The turnovers and the defense didnt jell till after he got hurt.

But imo the offense was a lot better with him at QB. I think people overrate Foles a lot

Forget it all. Rick Spielman is such a fucking nitwit, and has yet to give up on Ponder. Ponder is your 2014 starter.

Trade your 3rd round pick to the Steelers and grab Landry Jones.

One of the future QB's of the NFL and he is sitting on the bench, which is a good thing, he gets to learn the system and study under Roethlisberger.

As an Eagles fan, Trust me Vick blows. Sure he can run, But the fucking guy holds onto the ball way to long, He waits for his receivers to come open before throwing the ball, instead of throwing to where the receivers will be. Be careful what you wish for A.P.

Unfortunately, he will continue to get hurt periodically because his mindset is nowhere near what it needs to succeed as an NFL quarterback. (If you are at this point wondering about Johnny Football... very wise of you.)

Same problem. Pick whatever day you think he will get nutted.

considering they made the playoffs year ago without him and he is probably an upgrade (depending on his health) from what they have, playoffs is not out of reach. Although NFC is a lot stronger now

The Vikings should trade Peterson to Miami for Incognito.

Vick is done.

hmm, someone might think you are a dolphins fan ...

but seriously. Vick ain't gonna start in Phily anymore and I doubt he has more than 2 years left. So if you can get him cheap enough it wouldn't be the worst idea ever. Would I do it it I was the Vikings GM? Yeah probably if only for the fact that Peterson wants him. Peterson is a class act.

As an OU fan who has watched Landry Jones for 4 years in college, I disagree. When pressured, he'll fold like a cheap tent.

Why not sign him. Look what he did on Atlanta's turf. I know that was years ago but he still has speed.

Their QB's are awful, major upgrade. Tough division though

Peterson has fathered 7 kids with 5 different women, and many say the 7 is a low estimate
Been sued for not paying child support
Involved in a bar fight with police
Busted now twice for going over 100 mph

Vikings are playing their next 2 years outdoors in TCF stadium, that old man would get broke.

absolutely. I think Vick is an overall better QB than he gets credit for. Viking fans should be excited if they get him. His biggest problems were 1. Not able to read defenses, which all reports are thats no long a huge issue and 2. He threw the ball way to hard at time. Crumpler had to use all of his body to catch Vicks bullets back in the day, doesn't throw it like that anymore.

I think he'd be a great pick up for a lot of teams.
