I folded AJ 3 times in a tourny yesterday, twice in the blinds after raises came from middle position and once in early position. I also called once with AJs in late position a raise and one guy had AQ the original raiser had JJ. Im really not a big fan of AJ, if im playing it, its certainly not for tptk value, ill play it and take shots but unless im short even with a flopped A I am still proceding caustionly.

Whats everyone else's take

HAHA funny you say A-J. I lost about 100 going against this hand. I had 10 10 in the hole. This guy was 2 before the button he raised it up about 10. I call on the button and BB called. Flop comes j-j-8. BB checks other guy bets 10 again. I call BB folds. Turn is nothing. Guy bets 15 I raise it to 40 guy goes all in for 35 more well I have no choice but to call. Dud on the turn he flipps over A-J. LOL I said nicely plaed. Guy said he though I might of had a set. Geez I wish he would have thought that and folded. LOL Oh well.

Watching WPT on the big screen, they just flashed a graphic where A-Q got busted out 8 times in the final table.

I'm very careful with A-10 and A-J.

Don't even get me started on 9-9.

Another hand that came up the other day at the casino. I had J J in the hole. a guy before me lead out for 12 got another caller before it came to me. I just called BB calls.

Flop comes out with all low rags. Guy bets BB checks original raiser leads out for 15 gets another call. My action was to raise it up to 60 total. Everybody folded as I wanted them too. The key to these types of hands are to not let them get to deep into the hand. The more cards to come just gets you beat.

curious to why you didn't just raise on flop, basically anything he does might let you know your in trouble, a reraise and you can only beat a bluff, a smooth call most likely lets you know you are beat as well, depending on how bad said guy plays

Well with 10's it's real easy to be the best hand preflop but also real easy to invest to much and get whacked.

Also I try to vary my play. In this session the table didn't change hardly at all. I just didn't do it this time. I was raising with medium hands . Also the hand was opened for a raise and also a call so thats why it just called. Still thought I was best till he reraised all in and at that point I had no choice but to call him.

I see, I think either way isn't real bad, I think if you raise him on flop though you get that info alot cheaper

Not sure about ace-jack, but I can tell you that the hand that loses the most money in the long run in NO LIMIT is

ace-queen

People tend to treat the a-q just like ace-king and will go all in on the flop NO MATTER what comes!
