I'm going to suggest that if someone actually paid 2.4 million for the site, IF, then they didn't do it to purge the forum. They did it to build the forum.

Changes I'm sure, improvements I hope, but not a purge. I can see policies such as keeping politics and poppycock in their own forums, prohibiting pick bashing, prohibiting spamming, banning ghosts, enhancing the ignore features.... and more focus on modern day gambling models / sources

I will be purging the database of all the antivaxxer, chump supporting nuts as their presence here never made much sense on a sports betting related forum site.

I will then upgrade the forum software to the 21st century and finally will be adding a social media function to allow a true community to form organically and not be dominated by the storm trooper wackjobs that took control here about 10 years ago. I heartily encourage everyone who isn't Willie to take a look at the new design and format when I have it in place in a few weeks

Disagree. IF someone paid 2.4 million for this, they are an absolute moron. And there's no guessing what they will do to it.

Based on users,
Great marketing tool.

93,000
Email/contacts of known gamblers.
Even if many dead, many the email still works
For contact for the right gaming operation.

site could grow with right attractions, adding more users to market too.

it’s no barstool

On January 29, 2020, it was announced that Penn National Gaming purchased a 36% stake in Barstool Sports for $163 million, giving the company a valuation of $450 million.

but it’s still an established name out there with 25 years of business.

Sounds like a bad paper route

My comments only really apply if their business model is going to be putting banners up and being affiliates for the big US sportsbooks (which does seem to be the case based on press release but we'll see)

The free wheeling and non-PC back and forth that this site has just will not be remotely tolerable to those companies.

True story...When Blake got smoked for reaching for a knife and the sports world decided to take a few days off, DraftKings emailed me saying that they stand in support of these athletes and would encourage me to have difficult conversations with family and friends about systemic racism.

No way are any of those US public traded firms associating themselves w/ our brand of truth telling, lol.

As far as the 2.4m goes, meh, just another example of excessive froth that we're seeing in all markets these days from equities to bonds to crypto to housing to NFT boom, etc...They're probably flush with investor $, doesn't automatically mean you have a practical vision.

Things will be fine

That's how I always think :)

On a different matter, some pretty good one liners in this thread made me chuckle
