Been on a very strong 15-2 run lately and I really feel I have a good read on just about every team in the conference at this point. This is truly a great game to have so early in the conference schedule, and I like:

** Wake Forest Deamon Deacons +5

I do think Carolina is the best team in the country, but this is a good situation for the Deacs. First of all, this is not Skip Prosser's Eamon Eaconcs; these guys play some defense. I feel that this is a young and hungry Wake squad, and they are well coached enough to be prepared to deal with the pressure of this game. I learned alot watching them win @ BYU. To go into such a hostile enviroment against a strong team showed me that this team is ready to win today.

On the court, I like the depth and pace that this Wake team plays at. Lawrence Joel has a tendency to be a tough place to play when the crowd has a reason to be excited and tomorrow will be top notch environment. I just don't think this Caolina team is functioning well enough to be expected to beat a quality team on the road by more than 3. They haven't played a good team in over a month and I think they will be suprised at the pace that Wake is able to play at. To play with Carolina you need to be able to counter their depth and I just feel that Wake has the energy to control the tempo of this game.

Bottom line, I really look forward to watching this game. These are two very strong teams and I think this is a good situation to take a home dog. Carolina is still surviving off of that greatest team ever rep and this is an inflated line because of it. Wake has a very very good chance to come away with the outright win so I feel fairly confident in taking the 5 points.

I feel we get alot of money on wake too, alot of people like to back a team ranked in the top 5 at home getting points but your right alot of people will jump at the chance to lay such a short number with a team that is usually laying 3x the points.

Im not really sold on the carolina inside game; tyler has added the jumpshot to his game and it really takes away from the time and energy that he spends down low. Thompson has good games but he goes up far too soft most of the time. Wake is a team that thrives on easy baskets (51 percent from the field this year) and interior shots (20 percent of shots being 3's).

Carolina might cover but to me they just havent justified being expected to cover this kind of number with their current form. If I am wrong than I'm willing to pay for it....

Imo Carolina will not only cover but will do in with a dd win.what wake problem will be tonite are bodies carolina just have too many bodies for wake and this will just wear them out in the 2nd and you will see a lot of tired legs with a lot of shots going short imo.ck

TwistedOne that the reason i tried not to post too many plays with Carolina as i really dont want my love for the Heels to come into play.but Carolina shoots very well at the Joel,they will be forcus away from home and after the early loss to be to be better prepared for conf play here.i really think Carolina just have too many bodies for wake.wake may hang close and cover the 1st half but imo carolina pull away late in the 2nd half.ck

both teams have 8 guys averaging 13 minutes or more a game. I don't see Wake getting tired here. I expect them to be able to control the tempo here. Wake hasnt played in over a week and I think they have had alot of time to practice not trying to run quite at carolinas breakneck pace. I'm just really interested to see how this one plays out

a little update as the Carolina money is starting a little early at it 5-170 and books just went to 5.5, imo if you want carolina bet it now and if you like wake hold on because it will be higher close to game time.ck

I could see that coming to fruition, though that number is way too high for my tastes. I think its in Wakes best interest to not try and run with Carolina. Alot of teams try to run with this team and they get away from doing what they do best. Carolina plays fast, but they have experience playing that way and they still get their quality shots. To me it behooves Wake to slow the game down a bit and focus on controlling the tempo against Carolina. If they are able to get their quality shots in the lane and use some clock they might be able to frustrate Carolina into taking some bad shots as they try to get Wake to run with them. Wake is not a slow down team so we will see if this is Gaudio's approach to this game.
