One more game for us ACC fans before the bowl games start. It was an admittedly average season for the ACC as there were no elite teams, but it was very profitable so its hard to complain. In the ACC title game I like...
** Boston College Eagles pk
Really really like the Eagles in this this match-up but will play it fairly conservatively as its late in the season and that can be a tricky time.
Really impressed with the way that BC has closed the season, averaging an unbelieveable 1.7 ypc in their last 3 games on defense. I see the Eagles loading the box against the run-first Hokies and attempting to force them to pass. With an aerial attack as limited as what the Hokies bring to the table I feel that they are going to struggle to score. To beat BC on offense you have to have enough balance to make them respect both the ground and aerial attacks and VT just doesn't have that. This is a Hokie offense that has scored 17, 14 @ 14 points in their last three games.
First time these 2 teams played BC won 28-23, though BC qb Chris Crane played horribly and threw two pick-6's. I think they will keep the youngster Davis very limited in what they ask from him (Crane gave them a solid D performance, @ worst they get a C from Davis) and will rely on a dominant defense to create their opportunities. With as lackluster an offense as the Hokies have, I think this will be enough.
BOL everyone, this is a great week for football!
