The Atlantic Coast Conference picked up four new head coaches this year and all
should/could have a very positive influence on the programs.

Mark Richt (Miami) at Georgia, he compiled an overall record of 145-51.

Bronco Mendenhall (Virginia) at BYU, he had an overall record of 99-43 with at
least 8 wins in each of his final 5 seasons.

Justin Fuente (Virginia Tech) turned a sorry Memphis program around in three years
winning the schools first conference title since 1971 last year.

Dino Babers (Syracuse) compiled an 18-9 record at Bowling Green winning the MAC
title in his second year.

I like all four of these coaches. Welcome your comments........................

Prediction: Fuente will lead Virginia Tech to a win over Tennessee in the second game.

Vols getting the preseason hype as VT gets little attention. Look out...you will see Tennessee
fans go in hiding like you've never seen before after this loss.

I have more faith in Fuente than the others. I've never really trusted Richt, but he might do better now that he's in a much softer conference. But he still needs to get the talent to come to Miami. Right now they are behind the 8 ball against FSU and Clemson. If they can get back into the top 15-20 in recruiting, they'll be competitive again on a national scale.

Mendenhall was a great pick up for UVA. If he can recruit there he'll do very well.

I read an article here in VA about his incoming tactics w/ taking over the program. He is pulling the Urban Meyer tactic of: they can't wear UVA gear until they "earn it", they have winners and losers in everything, the winners get steak dinners...and the losers eat hot dogs, they have a "leadership council", etc. Meyer has used that everywhere he's been (Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, Ohio State)....Charlie Strong used it at Texas and it about backfired on him. Sounds like the UVA players have taken to Mendenhall.

I like the Fuente hire. And obviously, Richt was a very good hire at Miami. I think he'll do well and will bring some hunger to prove UGA made a mistake firing him.

Sooners, my take is Mark is on a mission especially after being discarded by Georgia. He inherits a damn solid team on offense
with a veteran quarterback. If and I say (IF) Miami can upset Florida State....look out!

At first glance, it looks like Syracuse made a good choice with Dino Babers. Babers
went 18-9 in two seasons at Bowling Green winning the MAC championship in 2015.
Prior to BG, he was 19-7 in two years leading Eastern Illinois. The 54 year old Babers
joined the Baylor staff in 2008 as WR coach and was tutored under Art Briles. He
took that same offense to EIU and BG. Got to think Syracuse will be airing it out this
season.

They signed former UF All-American DT Brad Culpepper's son to play qb.

Syracuse's post spring quarterback depth chart list Culpepper as fourth team.

I don't know anything about any of these QBs (maybe someone can help) but
here is the depth chart.

Eric Dungey, So, 6-3, 212
Zack Mahoney, Jr, 6-2, 200
Austin Wilson, rJr, 6-3, 225
Rex Culpepper, Fr, 6-2, 220

Culpepper is a true freshman, early enrollee. I wouldn't expect him to do much this year...likely a redshirt.
