Aaron Rodgers didn't have quite the gaudy numbers he did in his first MVP season. But perhaps it's what the Green Bay Packers quarterback didn't do in 2014 that secured his second NFL Most Valuable Player award.
"I feel so fortunate to live out my dreams, year after year," Rodgers said after accepting the award on Saturday night.

In winning the MVP on Saturday night in Phoenix, Rodgers was rewarded for a season in which he almost never threw the ball to the other team.
The 31-year-old Rodgers led the NFL in TD-to-INT ratio (38 touchdowns, five interceptions) during the regular season. He also finished second in passer rating (112.2) and yards per attempt (8.43) and third in touchdown passes.
He was the only quarterback to finish in the top three in all four of those categories.
His TD-to-INT ratio was the fifth-best single-season mark in NFL history and was second among quarterbacks with at least 30 touchdown passes, trailing only Tom Brady's 36-touchdown, four-interception 2010 season.
Rodgers played the final game and a half of the regular season plus the playoffs with a torn left calf muscle that significantly limited his mobility. When he returned to the game in the third quarter of the regular-season finale against the Detroit Lions, the Lambeau Field crowd saluted him with chants of "MVP, MVP."
"So much has to come together for this to happen. It was a tough year injury-wise. I had the unathletic hamstring and calf pulls, and just dealing with those," Rodgers said. "My training staff and my acupuncturist and my massage therapist deserve a lot of credit for getting me back on the field. It was a tough grind to get through it, but that's what we do as players."
Rodgers, 31, won his first MVP following the 2011 season. He became just the ninth player in history to win multiple MVP awards, joining former teammate Brett Favre, who won three MVPs.
Rodgers received 31 of the 50 votes. Defensive player of the year J.J. Watt got 13 votes. The rest of the votes went to Cowboys teammates Tony Romo (two) and DeMarco Murray (two), Patriots QB Brady (one) and Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner (one).
Of Watt -- who unanimously won the defensive player of the year award -- and the third-place Romo, Rodgers said, "J.J. had an incredible year. He scored three offensive touchdowns, two defensive touchdowns, had 20 sacks, and then Tony had an incredible year as well. It was a great year for the NFL, and I'm proud to receive the award."

JJ Watt for MVP was so overated. How many of these guys can catch 5 yard passes for touchdowns. And his team sucked. Andrew Luck should have gotten some votes. Without him, they would be picking in the top 5. AFC champ game to top 5 pick.

I would have given it to JJ but I have no problem with Rodgers winning it

I rather have a top 10 quarterback on my team than the best defensive player. That is how little of a difference they make on your team. Sure its great if he gets a sack/ fumble but after you go 3 and out, who cares

How could you ever consider a defensive player for the MVP? Watt is great but he doesn't touch the ball each play (yes I know he swats it down and now catches a pass or two). He doesn't have to know hundreds of plays, process defenses or drive the team 95 yards in the final 2:00 with the game on the line. He doesn't have 11 guys coming after him each offensive play.

J.J. got 13 votes.....He deserved the 13 and maybe more for 20.5 sacks,1 safety,4 forced fumbles,1 interception and 2 TD`s.

Watt was a monster this year. Texans were not that bad, they were 5th in rushing yards, their struggle was at the QB position.

Nobody has 11 guys coming after them. I've never seen an 11-man blitz. Let's face it, the cards are stacked in the favor of QBs in the NFL. Most QBs are pussies. I'll take JJ any day. He's a tough SOB and a difference maker despite his playing in a QB driven league.

Whomever voted for a Wagner should have their vote taken away forever. The voting is about right. Luck not mentioned, well, let the guy accomplish something first.

How did Bobby Wagner get 1 vote? I mean if you are going to go defense, go with Watt.

Wagner only played in 10 or 11 games this season. He didn't get 1 single vote for defensive player of year.

Of course the 1 dumbass that voted for him? Tony Dumbass Dungy. Go figure. Dungy shouldn't be voting for anything. That dude and his pussy tactics and obvious defense killed the colts. Prob. would have another couple super bowls if he just stayed in Tampa. Not an accident that the year he leaves Tampa, that same roster won the super bowl. Most overated coach in the entire universe.

It was the guy that got voted by Vlad as dumbass of the decade, Tony Dungy. And I hope you are kidding about Luck.

So, if you're a RB and carry the ball, 11 guys aren't trying to tackle you?
