swami- I am amazed that NY is drawing 50k...I hadn't seen recent attendace stats til I researched it ...couldn't believe it!!!

The last 9-10 years the Yankees have distanced themselves from the rest of baseball in every facet...its their league, it really is the Yankees and then everyone else...coming from someone who has watched baseball from 1970 til present day its tough to see one team so far in front everyone else....when I started watching baseball the Yankees were just another team, they really hadn't dominated but briefly 77-78 and that was it...in fact many teams from 1966 to 1996 had beter runs, but now its so lopsided its taken the fun out of it....

LOL- ok so I am a lil bitter HAHA!

I am a Yankee fan and have watched almost every game for the last 10 years.

Soriano doesnt hold a feather to Arod.

Its not even close.

Do you remember last season playoffs when Soriano looked like a little leaguer swinging at everything thrown?

I used to say the easiest way to strike Soriano out was by throwing over to 1st base.

A-Rod is also one of the best fielding 3rd basemen I have seen. Better than Brosius.

best fielding 3rd baseman you have ever seen?

MC- you sound like Sparky Anderson now, lol..FWIW I don't think Soriano is in A-Rod's class either, but you have to atleast raise an eyebrow at the numbers which are pretty close...Soriano with one more extra base hit , everyone thinks of A-Rod as so much more powerful...

Any player can have a bad post season...I think Soriano just had a bad stretch.... remember Willie Wilson @ the 1980 World Series? He couldn't have hit a beach ball in that series!

Also Soriano now plays in a hitters dream park. The ball flies out there. A-Rod has death valley in left center.

You really think Texas is a hitter's dream park MC? I recall when Texas first opened Juan Gonzales claiming the park was not homerun friendly at all...

How many homers did Soriano hit the previous two years in Yankee Stadium?

If you play in New York, the post-season is all that matters. If you're a choker, you're outta here.

MC-

You sound like a guy who's been reading too much of the Post and Daily News.

ARod is a great player in general but as far as his play at third he's very good but still not great.

Statistically, Soriano does hold a candle to ARod today. I don't think that will last though. Prior to the beginning of the season, if you said to me that I had to run a team with one of the following combinations, ARod and Cario or Wilson or Boone and Soriano I would have taken the latter when money and performance are considered. Boone and Soriano would have been pretty nice. With that said, Cairo and Wilson have been great at second.

Soriano almost cost me a broken hand and a few holes in my walls last year but the guy is young, good, and cheap.

ARod is nice to have and was necessary after the Boone injury but he did not solve our biggest problem....PITCHING!

As Yankee fans we forget about value and frankly there are FEW players on the team worth what we pay them.

FWIW, I'm less of a baseball fan than I was years ago. The regular season just isn't fun. I still watch most games but if the Yanks are playing the Blue Jays or KC, I'm barely paying attention to the game.
