I’m not saying you should take Indy as their defense isn’t good and when they have stepped up in class this year they have gotten killed (Indy has played 3 playoff teams on the road this season and they were outscored by a combined 60 points in the first half.) But, before laying the points, consider:

· Peyton Manning has lost more playoff games than any quarterback ever (12) – with a 11-12 playoff record.
· Manning’s playoff passer rating is 8.3 points lower than his regular season rating
· Manning has more 1 & done postseasons than any other QB ever (8). Manning's team was favored in 7 of his 8 one-and-dones
· Manning has lost playoff games to Jay Fiedler, Mark Sanchez and Chad Pennington
· In one-possession games, Manning is 2-7 overall in the playoffs. Manning has 1 career winning drive in the post season
· In the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] quarter during the playoffs, Manning’s completion percentage dips to 58.3 and he has 7 touchdowns against 7 interceptions

Good luck in whatever you choose.

Interesting stats but I think rather than looking at previous trends for Manning you should compare these two teams. The blueprint to beating Manning is pressuring him and containing the run, both serious flaws that Indy has.

This Denver team is as complete as can be with two elite cornerbacks, two elite pass rushers, an elite running game, and four elite receiving targets (Thomas, Thomas, Sanders, Welker). Unless Luck goes off for 5+ TDs, I don't see how they keep this within one possession and the line is now up to 9 in some places. Denver is the more talented team off a bye @ home (they havent lost at home since 2013). Seems like Denver or no play to me. Either way BOL on your pick.

One could also argue that since there were so many first round byes that those could be counted as wins since the team advanced to the next round. How many of those losses happened at home and how many as a Fav?

Like Elway he had to literally drag many of those teams into the playoffs because they didn't have an elite running game or their defense was inferior. Elway won when they had Terrell Davis and a very good defense. Manning's got both of those with this Denver team so there shouldn't be any excuses for them going forward.

Well, if only Peyton could play oline, RB, WR, defense & kick FG's.

A lot of those PO losses were close, & they were all against very strong, balanced, well-coached teams. If you look back @ Peyton's teams, what stud RB or "D" players did he have? Edgerrin James was prob his best RB, & his lone SB win was w/Joseph Addai. The best "D" players he's ever played w/were prob Freeney, Mathis & Bob Sanders, all who were playing together healthy only in 07 when IND beat CHI in SB. He's now taken 3 different Head Coaches to the SB. Three Head Coaches. Who does that?

If you want to say that Peyton's contracts (along w/his WRs & oline) have hindered his team's ability to sign a good "D" then that's fair. But to put all of his team's PO losses on him is not seeing the whole picture. Football after all is a team sport.

The 3 most comparable games to today:

Jan. 15, 2006 – divisional, Steelers (12-5) at Colts (14-2)
Spread: Colts by 8½
Outcome: Steelers 21, Colts 18

Jan. 13, 2008 - divisional, Chargers (12-5) at Colts (13-3)
Spread: Colts by 11
Outcome: Chargers 28, Colts 24 * The Chargers were without their starting QB and running back

Jan. 12, 2013, divisional, Ravens (11-6) at Broncos (13-3)
Spread: Broncos by 8½
Outcome: Ravens 38, Broncos 35

James, Marvin Harrison, Dwight Freeney?

I don't think there is a valid comparison between Elway and Manning. Elway made it to SuperBowls and Conference Championships. Manning is losing home playoff games as almost a double digit favorite.

Inspired defensive performance by Indy.

Peyton & the Broncos look a little tight.

Good read Acebb. I really thought Manning & co. would come to play today. I've watched almost every Indy game this year nd they have struggled mightily on the road against playoff caliber teams, especially ones that can run the ball. Big Manning fan here but if Manning goes on to lose this game, he will be a certified choker.

I don't know if he puts too much pressure on himself the week of these games or what, but it is just weird how different Peyton's teams play in the playoffs.

Good information. Didn't see this before the game, but the line set up look like TEASER killer, so no play for me.

Thank for sharing.

Brutal, he is a choker no doubt. At least I only teased, think about those who played the ML. Yikes!
