A question for middlers........

When is the value in the first number so great, that the middle is not worth buying back on. I'm certainly not new to middling, but I've never had a middle opportunity this large on a total before. I have a 21.5 point middle opportunity on a CBB total. As tempting as that is, I feel I have so much value in the original number, that buying back probably wouldn't be in my best interest anymore. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Your first bet is probably a bad line so buying back just puts you at risk of having
the first bet voided and getting action just
on the buyback. If your first bet is 20 pts
off what's out ther now then it would be foolish to buy it back.

It hasn't been voided yet, and I don't forsee it being voided.

Pinnacle opened the USC/WSU total at 153.5 last night, and it has now dropped to 132.

I've never seen a move like that..... ever. I kinda agree with voodoo that it was probably a bad number, not sure if pinn will void it though... Good luck on that and by the way, in that situation imo, you should never try and middle a number that good.

I really doubt they void it. It dropped to 146 a few hours after opening, and just continued to drop........

I tend agree with you guys that I shouldn't buy back here, I had just never been in a situation quite like this.
Thanks.

Pjia,

Why on earth would you sit there with a bet like that? If you lose you lose and if you win there's a good likelihood the bet will be voided. I would email them and get something in writing BEFORE the game goes off. By the way this is from their website:

Pinnacle Sports reserves the right to cancel any wager made on an obviously "bad" line or a wager made after an event has started.

I have emailed them, but recently. The total was still in the mid 140s this morning, so I didn't suspect they'd void it. With it now dropping to the low 130s recently, I did send them an email, and am still waiting for their reply. Though, the progressive manner in which this line dropped leads me to believe it wasn't that sort of "bad" line.

If Pinnacle cancels this bet I would reconsider about having any money there, but I m almost sure that there is no chance that they ll cancel it afterwards.

They've emailed me back, and it is a valid wager.

The purpose of this thread was to ask those who have been middling for much longer than I, how much is too much. How big of a difference is needed before you decide buying back is no longer a good investment?

Amazing it really is. Some of you guys suggest emailing pin and ask them if is going to be ok if you keep your current wager. I refuse to do the sportsbooks homework anymore. They booked it they have to live with it or the fact they will get bad press if not.

wow...the over may be a good # now? notice that WWTS or INTERTOPS do not have a total on that game...

What happened to this line @ olympic? perhaps the over is a good bet now?
