It's not a huge deal in my life but I just thought I would share the info.
Last week I get a call from an MVP sales rep saying I'd get a 15% bonus if I deposit before the Super Bowl. Later I send an e-mail to confirm - no response. (MVP and sister book V-Wager are notoriously bad replying to e-mail - both get F's at SBR's e-mail response ratings, for what that's worth.)
Well they had an NBA line I wanted on Sunday so I figured, why not get 15% added to my bet? I phone and get the verbal confirmation of the 15% bonus. 2 minutes later, I make a $500 deposit. They flatly refuse to give me a bonus.
The reason they cite is that I am restricted due to having taken past payouts. I agree 100% that I have taken past payouts. I have no problem with a make-up policy. My feeling is, That's perfectly fine - so don't phone me up with an offer, and don't later confirm it (and also you should answer e-mail).
For me to say, "Therefore don't ever trust these guys," may be going a bit overboard. There is a bit of confusion there. The one woman said no one would have phoned me with that offer but, "I'm not calling you a liar." Hmmmmm. Also, when I brought up their poor e-mail response record, she said something along the lines of, "Do you know how much e-mail we get?" That's another very bizarre thing to say IMO.
"No more than any other internet sportsbook, I wouldn't think."
I truly believe that even if they had given me an e-mail confirmation, they would still be renegging though. The vibe I got was that they were very committed to renegging no matter what.
So, I dunno, this may be relevant to some people here. It's something to be aware of I guess.
