I had a bday yesterday too, bitches =0)
1940 Ninety-eight years ago, the Boy Scouts of America was incorporated, and it all started with a boy helping someone across the street. Not an old lady, though. It was Chicago publisher William Boyce, who was visiting London and needed help finding his way on a foggy day. The youth who helped him refused a tip, saying that as a Scout, he never accepted money for doing a good turn. Intrigued, Boyce visited the Scouting headquarters and decided to bring the idea to America. Since then, 111 million U.S. Boy Scouts have learned about everything from camping to taxidermy -- and no doubt have even helped a few old ladies across the street. (Tribune archive photo)
