OAKAS, I was unable to find the DVD on e-bay. The only one that came close was a Bobby Heenan shoot interview. If you could give the guys e-bay name that sold you the DVD, I will be able to contact him. Thanks

Curious to know....maybe OAKAS could shed some light being from the Sioux City area.....I'm from Nebraska and used to watch some of the late 70's-early 80's stuff.....if anyone else knows the answer to my query....

Whatever happened to that short, bald-headed announcer......I think his first name was Gene....he took a lot of crap from some of those wrestlers he interviewed....

Also, that wrestler called "The Shiek".....arab looking guy whose pet move was to rake the opponent's back with his fingernails....I see a few dead wrestlers in a link off google that are called "Sheik" or "The Sheik", but I don't know if any of those are the guy I'm talking about....

More than likely the Sheik you are talking about is Edward Farhat who has passed away.

As for the announcer if you gave me the name of the wrestling company I can see what I can do for you

I think you are thinking of "Mean" Gene Okerlund who was the announcer

As Arn Anderson used to say (he'd hold up 4 fingers) "The symbol of excellence, The Four Horsemen".

Nebraka means AWA country so it had to be Mean Gene. Lebell was in LA I believe.

Marco:

I went to the link I posted and searched for "The Sheik". It came up with Edward G. Farhat as dmmd98 stated. Here's a link to his web site. Some of the pictures are hilarious!

The short bald guy was "Mean" Gene Okerlund. He has a burger franchise called "Mean Gene's Burgers". I used to work for Mean Gene's nephew when I worked for Schwann's Foods. That's about the time Gene came out with his burgers. Gene's nephew is married to one of the Schwann daughters.

Gene's son Todd played on the 1988 Olympic Hockey team for the US.

That picture of Sheik alongside Saddam is the one I think I'm talking about....

Gene okerlund is the announcer I was asking about....

Question: I'm trying to remember that wrestler, I believe his background was promoted as him being from Germany, he was a tall, bald guy that went by the nickname "The Claw", because he had that move where he grabbed someone's forehead with his right hand and then held that right wrist with his left hand....who was that guy and what ever happened to him???

Kind of a goofy bastard if I remember.....wrestled out of the midwest as i remember him along with Blackwell, Sheik, Heenan, Ventura, high flyers...

Always did like Blackwell....God this thread is bringing back some REAL old memories....Blackwell R.I.P.....

Thanks dmmd.....I couldn't remember the Baron's name but this thread made me think about the guy and about all I could remember was he looked a lot like that bald guy who played on "Children of the Corn" and some of those other horror flicks....

I remember Baron Von Raschke vs Jesse "The Body" match and the Baron put the claw on Jesse. The crowd went nuts. Then Mr Torture, Jesse's tag team partner at the time, enters the ring with a piece of board and clocks Raschke over the head with it. All hell breaks lose with many wrestlers entering the ring. As Raschke lay in a heap, a bloddy mess, Jesse says, "its truly beautiful isn't it".

Hearing Jesse being talked about in a wrestling themed thread always reminds me of the time he received a death threat before performing later that night. He said "if they were really going to kill me I don't think they would warn me ahead of time." Nothing phased this guy.

I'm not sure how that works. Do I just e-mail the admin here and they give it up?

The weird thing was back than you always knew who was going to win the match yet watching was still very exciting. I'm talking about when they had one of the scrub guys match up against a guy who won most of the time. The two best scrub guys of all time had to be Barry O and Special Delivery Jones. I was always sitting there hoping that they would win their match and it almost never happened. Is there anyway to find out if those two guys ever faced eachother?
