what do you mean by blackjack odds?

Same as everywhere else, 3-2 on BJ

As far as I remember they were rolling with 8 decks if that's what you're asking.

Tommy Fu,
Up until this year when I moved I used to go to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun 15 minutes apart every weekend!! They have Spanish 21 best blackjack game there is! You gey paid with 21 automatically before the deale draws his cards! No 10's in the deck! Just J's Q's K's.Can double down any time after 2, 3 or 4 cards! You have Black Jack you get paid automatically! Great game beats regular blackjack by far! Also they have WAR! One card each! Fast money, lol! But onestly I believe cause I win alot at Mohegan Sun alot more than Foxwoods!

Loved this place! Went for the first time this last year. I hardly touched the casino but played in that huge poker room. Had so much fun almost convinced me to move up there, LOL. My wife has family in New York and I would like to move somewhere that I can play cards daily without a 2 hour boat ride like here in Florida.

Funny thing was they had more high stakes stud games than they did hold 'em. Not sure if that was unusual or the norm up there.

Darryl,
They absolutely let you double after a split or resplit and in Spanish 21 you can double any time you want!

Foxwoods is a great place. I go there once a month or so. The blackjack game is good. 8 decks may sound bad to some people, but the penetration most dealers give on the shoe is very good - 75%-80% cards used on average. The surrender option also does help save you money here and there. 6 deck shoes are available in the high-roller "Newport" room.

Spanish 21 there from what I hear is fractionally an even better bet then regular blackjack. But I suggest bringing along a strategy card for that game - your decisions on many hands are different from regular blackjack. Check out "wizardofodds.com" for more info on the game and a strategy card.

Dealers and pits are pretty friendly for the most part. They also have a big non-smoking casino area which is good.

The poker room is big there but you can sometimes wait a long time for games. Mohegan Sun's poker room down the road just closed two weeks ago so the poker room at Foxwoods is now the busiest it has ever been. Nice variety of limits and games there, though.

Comps are pretty good for the most part. Get a Wampum Card and they will put points on it based on average bet, how long you play, etc. Sometime you can ask for extra comps like a lounge pass, etc.

Hotel is nice but a little pricey. Rooms usually fill up fast so make a reservation ahead of time if at all possible.

Good luck, and have a great time.

foxwoods has the best $5-$10 dollar slots in the east and better for sure than in vegas, they have two high roller sections one in maine hotel and one called stargazer which is really nice, jerry longlow if best host to have and has the best asst names rose, if you are a player meaning willing to spend 10k and up comps, rooms and restrunts all comped, great place

JJ - it's a site to behold. Read somewhere that they pay the state over 1 million dollars a day in taxes! Lot of suckers around to pay that kind of money.

Stopped at the first casino in the complex (they have several) and asked how far away was I from the poker room. "About a $30 cab ride" I was told. That didn't include the tip, LOL. Huge place.

in FY 02 they paid 196.3M in "taxes" - in the form of contributions to the state of CT per their revenue sharing agreement.

Thats about 16 million per month - its 25% of their slot revenue. The agreement doesn't include a "share" of table game win.

I stand corrected as I trust your sources Jay. I thought for sure I had read $354 million a year to the state of Conneticuit but I am getting old, the memory isn't what it used to be. I thought that just sounded ridiculous, not that $196 million a year in taxes is anything to sneeze about.

I'd need to do a lot of bonus whoring to make that.

Never been to Foxwood's, but I'll say this. I have never heard a better song for a commercial like Foxwood's casino. Man is it catchy!! Sometimes I see myself singing it when I'm out all night in my car.. When I hear this song, all of a sudden, i want to get dressed and go hang out at the casino..

Take a chance, make it happen
Pop a cork, fingers snapping
Spin the wheel, 'round and 'round we go!
Life is good, life is sweet
Grab yourself a front row seat
Let's meet, and have a ball
Let's live (let's live) for the wonder of it all!

Paradise, lucky seven
Grab yourself a piece of heaven
You and me, we can have it all
Living large, get on board
This is it, it's your reward
Let's meet, where the trees are standing tall
Let's live (let's live)
For the wonder of it all!
Meet me at Foxwood (Foxwoods!)

______________

That damned song stays permanently in my head everyday. I hear it at least six hundred times during Seinfeld episodes. Sometimes I only watch Seinfeld just so I can hear this song. It really gets my adrenaline going..

haha - my source http://www.dosr.state.ct.us/WAGERING.htm

Of course - as I said this is only the revenue sharing amount... it wouldnt account for income taxes that non-tribal employees would earn and any sales tax that that income earned would help generate (just the trickle down of any employment) and whatever other taxes they might incur.

That Foxwoods song is played everywhere all the time.

If anyone watches the red sox you'll know that they must have a deal with the team that says that every time the team plays the song has to be aired over 3000 times.

A friend of mine even played the song at his wedding. It must have been a joke - I think...

Foxwoods is nice but I prefer Mohegan Sun...only 15 minutes from Foxwoods. Absolutely gorgeous facility, free fireworks in the summer, great free concerts too. Not sure who is going to end up bigger when all expansion plans have been exhausted. Thank god for the slots revenue.
