Currently I am hitting 72.0% (72-28-2)on NBA hoops and 73.7% (42-15-1) on College hoops. My question to some of the old timers on this board is how do these numbers stack up with the average handicapper? This is my first year to handicap hoops and I strictly base my picks on formulas from stats. Thanks.

Welcome Hoopty. Always glad to see a management ghost intented on spicing things up here and generating more views. I'll play along...
Hoops you don't stack up here. The majority of posters here hit around 80 to 92%. One guy who goes by the handle of Takeittothehole is hitting 100%. He or she has only posted 48 times and is 48-0. His/Hers detractors point out that 48 plays is not enough to get a good statistical reading. I say he/she because this cappers method involves picking the winner based on the color of the uniforms and whether or not the visiting teams uniforms clash with the motiff of the arena. (It could be a gay guy, but everyone knows that gay guys like the Wnba "is a girl thing")Early in the season he/she had a game of the year and won. The Capper correctly predicted that the retro jerseys that the Knicks wore when they faced the Lakers at Staples clashed with the whole 'Us against the world' pastel blue that the Lakers wore that night.
As you can see Hoopty you have your work cut out for you. Good luck on keeping up with the board here with that lowly 72% you'll need all the luck you can get.

I apologize for causing any problems with my original post. It was interesting that most of the people responding to my post (Falco, The Snake, thesource, SportSavant) do not post their NBA picks on this board. And the one (maxdemo) who is going to fade my picks is ranked 106 out of 115 participants in the BoDog contest.
Anyway, I have learned my lesson and will not post again, except to "document" my picks, until I have proven or disproven my formulas.

Glad to see that you know how to research data. It will help in your quest to reach level's unheard of in gambling except for "Takeittothehole".

first of all I tried to be polite as possible, secondly I do post my picks in the NHL forum...documented with stats for every viewer to read...although many of us may not post our picks, we also dont make unrealistic claims on these threads.
Why on god's green earth would anyone post picks if they didnt feel they were strong at handicapping that sport
...if anything they would be doing a diservice.
the reason you are getting heat is becauz any seasoned gambler knows that hitting 70% is IMPOSSIBLE over the long haul...I repeat...IMPOSSIBLE...
However all the power to you...post away..keep careful records starting at day 1 of your posting at RX & prove us all wrong....if you do hit with consistence you will be seeing lot's of
before long.

I also want to clarify...I am not necesserily calling you a liar...it is possible (although unlikely), I suppose to be hot & to have the record you mention above..however if you could maintain those numbers...over a long period of time...you will be a millionaire in no time at all

Falco: Maybe your computer doesn't show the same thing as mine but when I log on to the forum, there is a bar at the top that allows you to "Find". If you touch it you can easily and quickly look at anyone's previous posts and determine whether or not the person who is bashing you is a player or a wanna be. Apparently in your case it is the latter.
Also, I am not sure what a "MANAGEMENT GHOST" is? But, I will use the "Find" key to search for that phase and let you know.
I do have one question though. If you think I am a "MANAGEMENT GHOST" (it must be good if I am one and you are not?) or that I am lying about my plays or trying to generate more advertising revenue (???), why even bother to take the time and respond? Wouldn't your "views" be helping me in this purported conspiracy?

Man, you can tell that much from what a person post's?? FYI I dont even post most of my plays since I play halves and usually dont bet before the game is about to go off....
