Posters,
Would like to take the time here and enlighten those that are not aware, to be very observant of the wording and the way odds are presented by a particular sportsbooks. This wording usually comes into play when discussing parlay and teaser odds.

Lets assume that sportsbook A is offering odds of 6 to 1 and sportsbook B is offering odds of 7 for 1 on a three-team parlay. Which is better? At first glance you may think the 7 for 1 is. Not so fast! Assuming a base bet of $100, 6 to 1 will give you $600 in WINNINGS for your $100 wager netting you $600. In the 7 for 1 example, you are getting back $700 for your original $100, thus WINNING the same amount as in your 6 to 1 wager. Be very aware of these to and for words.

So in recap, anytime a TO is used in the odds, that is the actual odds you will be receiving. When a FOR is used, they are adding your original wager into the equation. Thus, 7 for 1 is the exact same thing as 6 to 1.

Where this comes into play more places than any is on parlay and teaser cards. Especially in Vegas. However, online sportsbooks will and can use it in describing odds on anything! Note, they are doing nothing unetical of course, but by using the simple word FOR......it can make it appear that the odds are greater then what they actually are.

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THESE ODDS BATPOSTERS......AND AS ALWAYS, GOOD LUCK.

So, the next time you are on a date in Vegas, it is better to get 7 to 1 BJ's compared to 7 for 1?

I find parleys to be poor money management.

The reason being that it's VERY unlikely that your best shopping (best lines) will end up at the same book. You're likely to lose a 1/2 here and there if you're parley guy.

Lander- Very true. But the odds offered on certain parlays and teasers make for an exceptional betting oppurtunity. But you are correct, it is hard to find the very best number on 2 games at the same shop, let alone 3 teams and up.

thats why only Money Lines are good...for parlays in my opinion. You can lose your hair over watching a team make the last basket in 20 pt game to go over when you had under or for football make a touchdown with 30 seconds left in 20 pt football game.

I only bet money lines for parlays...straight to the point. I am much better just picking the games rather than doing the spreads...i guess i'm a true square lol

We can talk all day and night about parlay and teaser strategy. Just want to make sure everybody understands the TO and FOR..... and how it relates to parlay and teaser odds.
Good luck everybody!

who would pick WVU moneyline in a parlay lol

College football is alot harder to parlay than NFL with the fluctuations of the scoring. The WVU vs MIAMI isn't a good parlay game imo
