Shit was fucking crazy. I've been here 7 years and there have been some in the 5s, and I think another one in the 6s. But this was a long one. I'm upstairs in my office and the initial shake lasted couple seconds then there was kind of a pause, and then bam, the entire house was shaking back and forth. I have no one to save, so I ran downstairs and went outside. They say to duck and cover, but fuck that, last thing I want to be is stuck in rubble unable to move. Rather have a tree crush me to death. But just feeling the force of nature is crazy. You're completely powerless.

An earthquake registering a preliminary 6.2 magnitude was centered 81 miles northwest of Anchorage, Alaska, on Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
"It was kind of a long one," Anchorage police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro told CNN. At this point we have no major reports of damage or injuries."
The USGS detected the earthquake at 9:51 a.m. local time with an epicenter in a remote area of southern Alaska, according to the initial report.
"Wow. Big quake. At least it felt big on the 6th floor of the #Anchorage courthouse," Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reporter Casey Grove tweeted.
