51-35 YTD 1-1 Bowls Easy winner tonight

NEBRASKA -3

I can give you some local insight. Nebraska players are pumped to win this game. I went against them when they traveled to Colorado and were laying points. All things on the field point to a rather easy win for Nebraska here. The Michigan State offense is not the type of offense that the Nebraska Defense struggles with (mobile QB's). Smoker is a pocket passer with limited mobility who likes to throw it deep. He won't have the time to do that here as he will be under relentless pressure if he does anything more than a 3 step drop. Mich State will NOT be able to run the ball which will make them even more 1 dimensional. NU will force at least 3 turnovers. Bullocks with 1 or 2 INT's.

Nebraska offense isn't much to talk about but with short fields to work with they will benefit. Also, time of possession will be heavily in favor of Nebraska which will wear out this Spartan defense. The Mich State defense will lay down when they get behind, I watched it during a 2 game stretch (33 points to Ohio State and 56 to Wisconsin) I remember the Wisky game because I had money on MSU

Take my word. Nebraska will be very fired up to play this game. They lost in last years bowl game to Mississippi. They won't lose this year. Players have been talking all week how they want to get to 10 wins and how they love playing for Pelini and want to get him his first win as a head coach. I will be shocked if Nebraska doesn't win and I expect a blowout.

omm,

You have been dead on most of the year. I am gonna follow you on this one and add the over.

Thanks,
Uncle Leo

Thanks Co-captain. Glad you are on this one with me.

Another note: The flu bug has made it's way through most of the Michigan State players.

omaha- Good analysis and information. I think you've got the right side. The only thing that scares me is when Jamal Lord attempts a pass. He is awful. If someone told me that he wouldn't throw a pass all night, I would be on Nebraska. I hope your side gets there.

soccerbob, I want Lord to pass at least a couple times. These are set plays. Those that he screws up on are on obvious passing down. If they can stay out of 3rd and long, watch out for that streak down behind those cheating Lb for MichSt, with TE Heriam. 22 yards pc and leading receiver. Fastest way to score is with the TE streaking. Plus , they will need to pass to keep that defense honest. Dont watch the beginning, I have a feeling that they will come out passing.

Thanks guys. With Frank Solich gone I look for Barney Cotton to open up the offense a bit more. They should be able to run the ball though on MSU. C Ross will run for about 100 yards.

Thanks Co-Captain. You are more than welcome. I always appreciate all your great insight as well. Glad I could be of assistance. Usually I just post my plays as I don't have time for lengthy writeups. But, having some extra insight on this game I decided to share.

Congatulations on your win. A 17-3 win is a blowout Give me a break.

I hope you guys payed attention. This is almost exactly what I expected. No running game from Michigan State at all. If the refs were paying any attention they would have called some holding penalties on the front line of Michigan State OLine. Complete domination up front. MSU offense really had no chance without a mobile QB and NO running game.

And as far as motivation. I think you saw a very inspired defense from Nebraska. They were swarming to the ball. The only thing that kept Nebraska from scoring a bit more was ironically that the Nebraska defense was completely shutting down the MSU. Nebraska and the coaching staff simply had no worries about scoring anymore. 7 points would have been enough let alone 17. If they would have played 3 more quarters I don't think Nebraska's defense would have scored more than the MSU offense.

nice call,o....that score was in no way indicative of the domination that took place on the field....

i had the under and nebraska could have spoiled my night....easily....thanks huskers, for takin it easy....

g.l.,tomorrow....

Thanks sphincter. Apparently HE wasn't watching the game as HE had a bet on MSU. We all get some wrong from time to time but to not recognize that this game was not close and would never be close is to have watched this game with blinders on.

Nebraska would pound Michigan State if they were to play 10 times more in this situation. MSU simply doesn't match up well with Nebraska, anyone denying that just doesn't understand football.

good call o, glad to see you getting back in a groove. however, to say anyone who was on the msu side does not understand football is a little out of bounds. there is much more to capping than just looking at talent and match-ups.

there was good reason to believe that this team was an emotional wreck, and perhaps unprepared. it didn't work out that way obviously -- if anything, it was the opposite. but sometimes that happens. once again, good call, but try to leave it at that.

Omaha,

Yes I did bet on MSU and it was the wrong bet. The only point I was trying to make is that it wasn’t a blowout as you described it in your post.

I define a blowout is when one team can do whatever it wants on both sides of the field. Now I admitted to the fact that I was on the wrong side, but your suggestion that the blinders were on is not a strong enough argument that the Huskers were only able to score 17 points against an above average defense. That’s all ! That in no way constitutes a “blowout”, nor is it sour grapes.

Again congratulations on the win ( Ireally mean it). For me it’s just one loss nothing more nothing less.

Thanks,
Henry

A TWO touchdown win in a bowl game isnt a "blowout"??? Especially when VEGAS thought it would be decided by a field goal?

They should name a candy bar after you. Wait...they already have

Prophet,

You are right it was a blowout. Man am I dumb!!

Thanks,
Henry

He, Hansen and anyone else. I didn't mean to imply that betting on Michigan State was an indication that you don't know football.

I was just trying to say that if you watched the game it was complete domination. After the fact it is always easy to say " I told you so ". It takes a bigger man to say, " Geez, I was on the wrong side ".

Anyway, these posts were when I was into double digets on the beers so I was probably a bit more excited about the win than I needed to be. Lets all get some cash today.
