the coverage of economic news becomes more balanced, peoples' confidence returns within weeks, the markets return to growth and the next President elect is already a hero.

It's tradition

There are a lot of brave people on here. I was born at the start of the war so I missed the depression. My mom was 16 in 1929. It sure made an impression on her.

Hmm, The Obama Boom.

Has a nice ring to it.
Obamanomics?!

In all seriousness, what Willie is saying is 100% true. However, I don't think the boost of optimism from a new president elect lasts for more than a few weeks.

The numbers are the numbers.

They said the samething when Carter became POTUS. Got rid of everything Nixon. All was good for about a year. The rest is history.

Be prepared for the worst four years this nation has ever seen no matter who is POTUS.

I won't say ever, but I don't think that you're far off. We're in deep right now-real fuckin deep. It's not out of the question to consider that it may take 4-8 years for this country to recover.

Just knowing that Bush is about to be out is enough for the economy to get better after the election

At least Obama won't serve 4 terms like FDR.

if mccain wins hillary might :smoking:

mccain = hoover
hillary = FDR

if mccain wins IMO

the FDR type is coming into this mess to early in the game

need it to crumble first in order for the nanny stater commie uprising to gain some legs

its all about timing IMO

big reason the bill didn't pass today is because of timing and its too early in the game.....

Tiz- Would you rather see this oversized mess of a federal government continue to operate business as usual, or would you rather watch the whole system explode and watch us hit the reset button where people stop buying more house than they can afford, SUV they can't afford, euro vacation on credit, worthless history degree from private college...

Into the fiscally conservative people like your parents and grandparents?

Uh, when Carter became President, the economy was just fine. Maybe that's why everything was "good for about a year". Ford lost because of Watergate.

That's what I was getting to. It also hurt Ford when he gave Nixon a "Pardon".
