I don't read the local paper or watch local news because I don't care what happens in this shithole city so I wasn't aware of the excessive amount of streetwalkers in the mentioned area. It won't last long. That will be quickly resolved. For a big city, there are actually very few street hookers here. Sure, there will always be streetwalkers out there but you won't see too many. Hookers can work in the hotels, work for an escort servicece, advertise in alternative newspapers and place ads on the internet but as soon as they touch a sidewalk, Metro is usually right on them.
Prositution is illegal in Clark County, where Las Vegas is located. The casinos and the convention and visitor's authority don't encourage it but they don't discourage it either. All you have to do is see the convention and visitor authority's idiotic ad campaigns to see that. Local officials just don't want the tourists to see the hookers on the street. That doesn't fit Las Vegas's corporate image.
Hookers can ply their trade in the hotels as long as they are reasonably well dressed and grease the bartenders and security. They have no worries from the Metro because local law enforcement doesn't come into the casinos unless they are called by hotel security. Metro has pretty much given up trying to bust escort services because they claim their ladies are actually dancers and of course we all know dancing is perfectly legal. The escort services also have very good lawyers, By the way, stay clear of escort services that you see in the yellow pages and in brochures or on those glossy business cards. The fees they quote are for "dancing". If you want anything else, their prices are exhorbitant. The hookers that advertise in alternative newspapers and on the internet are practically impossibe to stop and Metro doesn't much care because they aren't visible to the tourists.
So as you can see, prostitution is doing just fine here. As long as they stay off the sidewalks.
