</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>The Denver Post reports that Michael Crabtree's unwillingness to take less than "top-3" (draft pick) money" from the 49ers is causing a holdup in contract talks for the first round throughout the league.
Just four of 32 first-round picks are signed as of Monday afternoon. Crabtree went 10th, but appears to be getting greedy after pre-draft projections had him going in the top five. The sides appear destined for a prolonged holdout, which would cripple Crabtree's chances of starting the Niners' opener.

Just 4 of 32 first round picks have signed? This shit is out of control. The league needs to get a salary program in place similar to the NBA. There is no reason why punk ass kids should be demanding more money than proven NFL veterans. Matt Stafford making more money than Tom Brady, give me a f*&^ing break. A player that was drafted 10th demanding top 3 money because some magazine projected him as a top 5 pick, :think2:.

what the????

Is he serious?? What happened to the time you need to prove yourself first?? As a 49ers fan... love the team but I just can't stand this bull crap!! He needs to do something first! Stupid draft picks like this need to be taught a lesson. If I went to work on my first day and demanded a raise I would have probably been fired!! It's all about me when it comes to signing a ridiciuos contract, what happened to a team game and having money left over to get other players... like a QB! Anyways, sorry for ranting but just tired of this crap!

a) this type of waiting game happens every year. agents wait before signing so they can see what other guys get. as training camp approaches, more guys sign and then everyone else follows suit.

b) i doubt it's JC demanding more money. it's his AGENT demanding it. he can demand all he wants. he wont get it. it's all posturing

c) i thought the NFL installed a rookie SalCap? maybe it goes into effect next year?

These assholes need to work a real job for a couple years, they wouldn't be so quick to hold out if they knew what a real life job paying a real life salary was like.

These guys are going to get less and less, so they better grab what they can. The NFL is finally going to start paying these clowns what they deserve, which is little, or nothing, until they prove themselves. Crabtree thinks he is good. How quickly he forgets that he played in the Big 12, a conference that is one of the worst conference defensively, in the NCAA.

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>Both the 49ers and the player rep for Michael Crabtree are denying that the No. 10 overall pick has threatened to sit out the season and re-enter the draft in 2010.
Frankly, one side is lying. Despite confirmation from Crabtree's cousins and adviser, David Wells, agent Eugene Parker denies saying a word to anyone about a potential re-entry. Both sides realize the nuclear option was not a wise move to enter in the public record, so they are backtracking and trying to quiet the situation down. Which makes sense. Crabtree has taken a P.R. hit and the reality is the two sides are still far away from a deal. It's back to the drawing board.

too bad he's slow and is still injured, otherwise him and his agent may've been able to pull this off.

there's no chance in hell he won't sign.

^^ uhhh, no. heyward-bey plays WR but can't catch the football with his small hands, whoopsie.

the 49ers should follow suit to how the Lakers handled the Odom situation.. offer the bum LESS than what they first did and then really watch him squirm.
