Joining the sec should have made them rich. I have no clue why their finances are in such disarray, but their revenue has definitely done up from the conference payouts.

Made them "rich"? No way.
Football wise, they are not getting good Texas HS recruits anymore, and attendance wise fans do not come to see South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Florida, they liked Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, K State, their regional foes for decades.
Yes the SEC revenue was better but Missori athletics are slowly going downhill each year since they joined the SEC, that extra SEC money will not matter.
The University itself is in organizational and financial disarray, have made terrible choices at the highest of levels, a few years ago yielded to outside antagonists when the football team threatened to boycott vs BYU late in the season... long story. Bottom line, they are in a death spiral.

ha yeah right. Would be awful fit and won’t happen.

Explain why. Monken has a definitive offense that can be implemented at Arkansas and they would be successful in that scheme.

At some point you have to be honest with yourselves as fans and objectively ask what you think Arkansas football is capable of accomplishing with regard to success. Arkansas is never going to be a dominant football program in the SEC, never. They have neither the in-state talent nor the brand to attract out of state talent.

So, what do you want? Do you want to hire another new coach every three years who might have a big win every other season.....or do you want a coach that will get you 8 wins every year and sometimes a 9 or 10 win season?

Arkansas fans want that offense that went to the Sugar Bowl against OhSt.

I don’t know how well Monken recruits but we must have someone who can get players from Texas.

They also need to have some type of Arkansas connections and buy into the community.

Just a few examples.

I’m not as up to speed as the die hard Hog Fans.

It’s lazy to bring the option offense up as the only thing that could bring back any resemblance of Arkansas football. We’ve done well enough to make it to bowls with a power spread and ground and pound.

Arkansas has enough talent and can recruit enough talent to average 6-8 wins a year, which is what the real expectations are. The secW is saban a playground, don’t get the big head the first and random year your team has lit it up.

"get the big head"? Are you fucking serious? Go look at the record between LSU, Auburn, or Alabama against Arkansas....it's not a "big head", it's history.

I wasn't trying to insult you.....I seriously believe that a dedicated offensive philosophy like Monken's would help Arkansas. If I wanted to insult you I would have just reminded you that TULANE has more SEC football championships than Arkansas.

arkansas does enough to insult itself, it doesn’t bother me like me telling you not to get the big head the first year you can put up points. It wasn’t an Arkansas vs LSU comment, it was a general comment about LSU. You should enjoy watching have it an actual offense. It’s been how long? Since saban waved your program? Flynn? Surely we don’t count Jefferson and the plethora of awful QB’s selected or backed in to the HC you have now. Miles robbed you guys of so many championships he should be in jail. O appears to be a tick better with your payroll

also there is a plethora of college with more football championships than LSU, definitely when you bring in Tulane and the era you have refer back to so that comment is accurate.

Kiffin must be the horniest man alive. He must have seen all that coed talent on Ole Miss' campus and it blinded him into taking a job that will end his head coaching career. Ole Miss will never be a contender for championships in the SEC West, and Kiffin will never get another head coaching job if he gets fired/dismissed from the Ole Miss job in three years.

Just a stupid fucking decision with the Missouri job available out there.

LSUpete

First, I’m a fan of your capping. Consistently solid.

Second, I am in full agreement as to your analysis of Ole Miss coed talent.

Third, I have a slight disagreement on Ole Miss *never* contending. Hugh Freeze (seems like forever ago right?) had us within a play of going to Atlanta until Arkansas concerted a 4th and 25 on a crazy lateral. Still got us a sugar bowl win that season. I do agree that it is certainly an uphill battle compared to LSU, Bama and Auburn. But it is possible as shown by Freeze.

Lastly, assuming the reporters are correct it does look like Norvell to fSU which will bring Kiffin to Ole Miss (though Arkansas is confident they are getting him too). I’m a fan of Kiffin. Think he has a great offensive mind and brings some name recognition and recruiting help. Regardless I’m sure you will agree that it is a gigantic step up from Matt Luke who was completely inept.

Just my my two cents. Keep up the good work. Big fan of the real Death Valley. Had a lot of fun there many times.

Lane Kiffin will be announced as the new head football coach at Ole Miss tomorrow or maybe
after FAU's game against UAB. Kiffin as already begin working on staff and it looks like he will
retain Reb's current DC Mike MacIntyre. He will also bring a couple of his coaches at FAU.

Missouri has narrowed (?) down its coaching search to four names: Blake Anderson (Ark St.),
Skip Holtz (La Tech), Jeff Monken (Army) and Jay Norvell (Nevada).

James Franklin and Penn State have come to terms on a new six-year contract which will take
Franklin through the 2025 season.

Urban Meyer to the Dallas Cowboys...just might happen. Jason Garrett will be fired and Jerry
will be looking for a new coach. Meyer recently stated he wanted to coach the Cowboys. Another
name of interest will be Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley.

Arkansas....who the hell knows what's going on with its coaching search.

Two big coaching searches ended Saturday with Ole Miss (Lane Kiffin) and Florida
State (Mike Norvell) making moves. Arkansas' process, which started a month ago
continues to march on though. The new rumor for the Razorbacks is that FIU coach
Butch Davis is in the mix. Davis is an Arkansas alumnus and has extensive head
coaching experience in college and the NFL. He's done a nice job at FIU, going 23-15
and reaching bowl eligibility each season. The Razorbacks seem to be stuck in the
mud with its coaching search.

Why in hell they don't just hire Mike Leach is a mystery to me. He would create a
much needed buzz around Fayetteville and win some football games.

Missouri AD presented these to the curators, Anderson (Ark St), Monken (Army), Holtz (LaTech)... they were furious, wanted higher profile candidates, assumed he had some lined up after clipping Odom, a Missouri alum and good guy but not a solid coach.

Missouri is a mess as a university and athletic department wise... floundering, should never have joined the SEC despite the better revenue guaranteed.

Arkansas fans are really, really, really fired up about the hiring of former Georgia
offensive line coach Sam Pittman as their new football coach. Really?

Clemson co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott is headed to South Florida as both
sides finalize the deal. Scott was one of the names rumored from the beginning.

Missouri and App State's Eli Drinkwitz have agreed to a deal. Drinkwitz spent
one year as HC of the mountain men, now takes charge of the Missouri mess.

Former Arkansas coach Chad Morris has removed himself from consideration for
the UTSA job.

Former Colorado State HC Mike Bobo looks to be headed to South Carolina as
offensive coordinator. One of our posters nailed this one early.

Lane Kiffin's first hire at Ole Miss was strength coach Wilson Love who he's bringing
from FAU. Love played at Alabama and was asst. strength coach there.

Kiffin has also contacted Kendal Briles (FSU OC) for the same position at Ole Miss.
Briles was Kiffin's OC at FAU in 2017 when the team posted an 11-3 record.

Don't be surprised if Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm returns for his senior year.

Playoff coaches receive nice bonus: Lincoln Riley ($125k), Dabo ($150k), Big Ed
($225k), and Ryan Day ($250k).

Missouri fans are aghast with the hire.

He is 36 years old, only one year as HC (in the Sun Belt), took over a well stocked talented team (did well, sure).

Missouri needs a HC with a track record for recruiting, preferably some SEC experience.... and Drinkwitz ain't it.

You read my mind Serbone. Ever since Gary Pinkel let the black players take over the football team...it's been all
down him with donors, fans and student enrollment. Missouri is a mess and they are bringing in a rookie to fix the
many problems. Drinkwitz is a good young coach...but this ain't the right fit for him or the school.

Clover...Fromm has to unfortunately come back to UGA now. He destroyed his draft selection position this year by playing like a dumpster fire. Noodle arm, no mobility and inaccurate as a passer isn't a good combination. Kirby ran off two 5* qbs for this game manager Fromm

Eli Drinkwitz is a damn good and young Coach, however, he should've stayed put at App St. That is a great job that has good tenure if wanted, and they actually get decent recruits and play solid teams OOC. Boone is also a cool little WNC town with positive vibes...

Matty, the first time I ever went snow skiing was in Boone, North Carolina. I was just out of
college and a couple of my friends and I loaded up for three days in Boone skiing. I have
water skied since I was five and thought snow skiing would be a breeze. I almost killed myself
on those icy slopes. I was sore for two weeks after that trip. Yes, Boone is a pretty little town
and App State is a lovely little school just next door.

Not a coaching change but former South Carolina QB Jake Bentley is off to Utah. Think he’ll do well out there away from the circus in Columbia.

Too bad his Daddy and a few others aren’t headed out with him.
