11-8-1 yesterday. I know I play a lot of games Saturday, but I start on Friday and look at every game except for 3 or 4 conferences. The volume has not been my problem as I am 75-56-2 on Saturdays since the new year began. The problem is every other day of the week.
Iona-9
The Gaels are finally coming into form with 3 straight lopsided wins which featured better defense, fewer turnovers and excellent offensive efficiency with 1.11 points per possession being the low mark. Marist has one of the weaker offensive units in the MAAC and I don’t think they can keep pace with improving Gaels.
Colgate -5.5
Colgate has had several days to get over the high of stomping Boston in a first place showdown. The Raiders already have 6 conference road wins and only one of them was by less than the spread here. I do think Loyola- Md is better than their 4-9 conference record suggests, but competing with the conference leader who is on a roll is out of their reach.
St. Peter’s -6.5
Fairfield is a slow paced grinding team so you don’t expect eye popping stats, but they are in horrible form presently. Over the last 5 games they are averaging 53 points with 35% overall and 24% from 3. Now they are off a tough overtime win playing against the first place team looking for revenge.
Northern Kentucky -10
This is an angle with a small sample size, but here we go. Horizon teams that play on the road have to play Wright State and NKY in consecutive games.
Teams that have played Wright State’s physical defense on the first leg have been mudstomped by Northern Kentucky 2-3 days later. Cleveland State and Oakland were the previous victims and now it is ILlinois - Chicago’s turn.
Siena -7.5
Like Manhattan as a home team, but their mediocre offense doesn’t travel well. Last 5 games comparison- Manhattan 65 points on 39% and 29% while Siena averaging 78 on 51% and 41%.
UCOnn -4
A spot play here. The arrival of conference play has proven the young Tigers to be a very inconsistent team which is to be expected with how inexperienced they are. They are off a tough overtime loss to Cincy and have to play an improving UConn team looking for revenge at home.
