I was at the game so I didn't hear it, but a friend of mine told me Al Michaels mentioned on the air that the total was at 38 and Mare's field goal was significant because it prevented the game from going over.

He also mentioned about Pottsville winning something like 49-0 and that "they covered". What a gambler!

big game, what was the atmosphere like at the game, it seemed kind of lame from tv, kind of like watching an ivy league game or something as far as a lack of electricity

Hell no! There were a lot of people rooting for Miami. But since a lot of people got in free that meant more money for beer. I saw about 10 fights myself. It was a party atmosphere. Not always a good one though.
