forecast was suppose to be pretty good for the tournament, that has possibly gone out the window

tomorrow may be ugly with wind gusts as high as 22 mph, 60% chance of rain. 80% chance of rain on Friday

crazy numbers. He's 24 yrs old

% of top 10 finishes (PGA + European Tour, combined)

2017- 48%
2018- 37%
2019- 64% ...wtf. Tied for 3rd at The US Open, tied for 9th at The Masters

....had the lead in the final round at The Player's Championship, Sunday final pairing. Didn't handle it well, 76. Has that experience under his belt. Fearless, strong putter, great driver of the ball. Is Rahm ready to win a major?

I'm pulling for Brooks Koepka but Patrick Cantlay (+3300) is my longshot.

“I had a hard time moving,” Woods said. “And just trying to piece together a swing that will get me around a golf course. And then all of a sudden I made probably one of the best pars you've ever seen on one today. That was a pretty good start.

“But it was kind of downhill from there.”

I didn't do much out there today,” he said. “I hit a lot of missed shots, they were all left. Wasn't hitting it solid. Everything was off the heel. Just trying to scrape it around.
“Best I could do was 7 over.”

“I'm just not moving as well as I'd like,” Woods said. “And unfortunately, you've got to be able to move, and especially under these conditions, shape the golf ball. And I didn't do it. I didn't shape the golf ball at all. Everything was left-to-right. And wasn't hitting very solidly.”

“Just the way it is. Just Father Time and some procedures I've had over the time. Just the way it's going to be. As I said, one of the reasons why I'm playing less tournaments this year is that I can hopefully prolong my career and be out here for a little bit longer.”

“I’d be disappointed regardless, whether it was here or St. Andrews or Birkdale or any of the other tournaments or majors,’’ he said. “So, yeah, I’m disappointed, but at the end of the day I’m still the same person. I’m going to go back and see my family, see my friends, and hopefully they don’t think any less of me after a performance like that today. And I’ll dust myself off and come back out tomorrow and try to do better.’’
He, too, insisted that the heavy weight of the expectations on him had nothing to do with his performance.
“I don’t think so,’’ he said. “I’m pretty truthful with you guys. Look, I was nervous on the first tee, but not nervous because of that. Nervous because it’s an Open Championship. I usually get nervous on the first tee anyway, regardless of where it is. So maybe a little more so today than other places.’’

After McIlroy's disastrous start, Brandel Chamblee did not mince words.
"This is nothing new what we saw today out of Rory McIlroy," said Chamblee, referencing McIlroy's now three scores of 79 or worse in the first round of major championships. (McIlroy shot 80 at the 2018 U.S. Open and 79 at the 2013 Open.)

"He has had, historically, just a bad run of first rounds. ... He consistently gets off to a bad start and then inexorably plays himself back into it, and then when all the pressure is gone, all of that talent arises and then he plays a beautiful second or third or fourth round and gets himself back in it. ... But when someone plays poor golf in the beginning of a tournament and then great golf the rest of the way, or great golf in the beginning and then poor golf at the end – both of those on either end he's been guilty of over the last five years – then you know it’s not something physical, it’s not something technical, that they’re not putting themselves in the right frame of mind to either begin a golf tournament or to end a golf tournament. He needs to find that magic that he had when he was winning major championships."
"On paper – I know what the world rankings say, that Brooks Koepka is the best player in the world – but on paper, coming in here, demonstrably, Rory McIlroy is the best player. Strokes gained tee to green, strokes gained total – he's better than he was in 2012. He's better than he was in 2015. And logically, experience should make him a better player. But when someone consistently performs under expectations, the word is choking.
"We shy away from it. Everybody's done it; I've done it, you've done it, the best in the world have all done it. But now it’s [been] five years [since McIlroy last won a major]. And there was a reason why people shied away from picking him this week, and it was because everybody felt like the moment was going to be too big for him. ... We don’t like to be correct in these presumptions, but it played out exactly that way."
