philadelphia has been able to muster up the 3rd most shots on goal per game in the nhl. that bodes well against a team giving up 4.1 goals per game. new jersey at home and carter hart in net i like them to net 2-3 as well. expect an open game on both sides with plenty of chances. unless we see spectacular goalie play each team should get 3+. new jersey is awful on the power play but in the flow of the game they have still found ways to score at full strength.

regrettably i cant get in regulation at the moment with my book, have had it in years past but thus far this year its a no go. boston is rolling whereas i think pittsburgh is actually over achieving at this point. i dont like their defense and think they are prone to give up too many opportunities. boston didnt play its best against the senators but still won comfortably with a 3 goal lead after 2 periods. this is a rivalry game so it will have plenty of each teams attention. expect boston to be the more physical team and come out hitting, expect pittsburgh to be on the defensive and need a heroic game from crosby and guentzel. letang is the teams third leading scorer but will be asked to do a lot against a pressing forward combination with boston. sometimes stats can be decieving, pittsburgh has always been known for their offense and looking at their averages of 3.36 goals per game you would think they are still a dynamic offense. 3 game they scored 7 though and that was against the jets, wild and flyers who all are very sub par on defense. take out those games they have 26 goals in 11 games which is much more pedestrian. with the step up in competition i think boston wins tonight and would love the in regulation but will take a stab at the puck line.

Flyers are 5-1-1 at home and had a nice win vs carolina a few nights ago. Montreal comes off a nice win over boston to go onto the road and face a tough phyiscal opponent who plays different home and away. I dont believe philly is better than montreal but i like this spot. philly has been home now since november 1 and finishing up a home stand strong should be a real focus for them. good spot to back the flyers imo.

average save percentages and what should be an open game. Lean Philly but like the caps offense especially from Carlson on the power play. Should be physical with power plays, look for plenty of good scoring chances

the blackwood era begins in new jersey and maybe thats why the line is lower than it should be. talent wise boston should be a -170 fav imo. boston has struggled as of late but defensively they are still a pretty good team and fortunately for them the devils arent an offensive powerhouse. they have struggled to score against good defenses. boston is a control the puck team and will press new jersey often. boston gives up less than 2.5 goals a game and new jersey averages less than that. id be surprised if new jersey can score more than 2 tonight where as i dont see new jersey being able to deal with the constant pressure they should receive from boston. see a 5-2 type game. may put some on the PL, still cant get in regulation games so stuck with what i got for now

Caps over 3.5 goals 2 units
Caps have done really well against the rangers in recent memory. Backstrom being out is a concern for their offense but the capitals have a lot of depth at the forward position and despite that are getting a great amount of offensive production from John Carlson. Backstrom has always been a set up man, always getting more assists than goals (he only has 4 this year but 14 assists) but with Oshie, Vrana, Eller and Stephenson all playing well right now and fighting for minutes i think youll see them be very aggressive. Caps lead the leage in goals per game average while the rangers are second worse in goals given up. Rangers are also second in shots given up a game. Rangers also rank towards the bottom of the league in the penalty kill at 72.9 percent. All adds up to the fact that the caps should have the opportunities to score from virtually every line they put out there so ill take the chance that they put up at least 4.

both home and the better team. wouldnt lay the heavy juice straight up so will take the risk on the parlay. Caps coming off a road loss will look to right the ship at home and dallas is one of the hotter teams in the NHL but their slow start to the season has still kept them off many peoples radar. they are good on defense and the offense is coming around. caps start is early at 1230
