Got all the things on the site ironed out. Will host a Derby auction, open now and closing tomorrow at 9PM eastern.

All payments via PPal to yours truly, payout same way immediately upon derby ending.

If payment is not received within 3 hours we will re-auction that horse the next morning.

Pot will be 60% to winner, 30% to 2nd, 10% to 3rd

Same site we did the NBA auction at, so if you have a login for that it'll work. If you forgot your password or do not have a login yet, post in here (no pm's please, box gets full too fast), and I will PM it to you.

GL everyone! :toast:

BTW I know the auction site looks a little strange on a phone right now, it's cause of the new chat function...I'm hammering that all out now.

Cute girl, but why are you letting John Travolta hug your daughter?

Why does everyone say I look like John Travolta..... Get that a few times a week :(

Two things on software.

1. bid button has dissappeared on the horses I bid on. someone may want to rebid near the end to prevent a pure snipe.
2. all dollars are not being accounted for, not rounding the exact figures.

1. That's the way it was designed. Never really thought someone would want to bid again on a team they already had. When we were doing it here in the threads no one ever bid their own # up.

2. Assume you are talking about the payout grid. It's just displayed that way (rounded to nearest dollar). I can fix that pretty easily but the cents just seemed to make everything too busy.

Maybe rebidding hasnt been done but to be straight locked out just because you
have already bid doesnt feel right and is not a feature of any type of bidding
platform Im aware of.

Does everyone else like this?
If no one else is bothered by this then I wont mention it again.

Is this setup like eBay in increments? If price is a $1 and I bid $10 does it increase straight to $10?

Not sure exactly what that means. You can bid whatever you want, as long as it is in whole dollar increments and is higher than previous bid.

If the current bid is $1 I can bit it up to $2 or straight to $900. Whichever I want. When you click Bid next to a horse, a pop-up will come up asking how much. By default that prefills to be $1 more than the previous bid, but you can put in a custom amount.

Yeah I'll do it either way, easy code to change. Whatever people want.

do I need a new password from other ones??

you shouldnt need this. I did have to clear cache and cookies for it to work a few times.. it says pwd invalid.. just go back a few times after browser restart or cache clear and it works.

Fwiw I did outbid myself in the last auction - NBA - (figured out how to so I wasnt stuck in the final minutes and someone could snipe me).. granted I ended up with both high seeds again unwanted but it is what it is.. there is a price to pay for every risk...but you can outbid yourself just not the traditional way MM is asking for.

Check the logs if you want proof HC.. if you have them.

Yeah I'm sure you opened 2 browsers or 2 tabs or did it from your computer and phone at the same time.

Open the bid pop-up from both, and it will probably stay open on the one after you submit from the other.

Guess I'll have to force the bid pop-up closed on every active session for a user after they submit a bid.

Didn't even think about that.

Or I can only let the user log into one session at a time. Just haven't gotten to that yet.

Not that I think it's cheating. It's just a loophole in the system.

HC, I suggest you open it up to be able to bid at will. It is rather weird to not be able to increase the max bid, but I get that its not incremental like ebay and will bid up to your amount you wish (this would be ideal but not likely). I am not sure I love that you insinuated it is close to cheating, but I disagree completely.
If person A is the highest bidder, they should hold the most rights to that pick, not person B who wishes to steal it with 1 or 2 seconds left, and who currently holds the real rights to the pick considering person A is "locked out"...just my thoughts on this and I think if anything it is goofy to even bid anywhere close to the end except the end if you cannot increase your bid to be more secure... maybe the auction should be silent? puff_>>

In all seriousness, I think if the highest bid holder cannot increase their own bid at any point freely then it makes no sense to be the highest bidder ever until the final 5 seconds and will drive the pricing down on all auctions... if that makes any sense

Makes total sense. That is the flaw of this auction model. Don't really know how to fix it.

I will open it up to be able to bid on ones that you already have though, if you think that will help.
