:think2: We got the derby ( very slow ) behind us, and after a few days, it looks like their may not be too many challengers for California Chrome in the Preakness. Could be a so-so race, unless some challengers come up to the plate soon.

Would be a great year to see a filly challenge, and I believe Untapable would have a great shot, like Rachel A did a few years back.

If not, we can be looking towards a big field in the Belmont, where they will be trying to stop the Triple Crown.

Be well all.....................................let's see how this unfolds .........................

I dont see much competition for Chrome in the Preakness......but you will see a full field at Belmont as you stated.

Danza is up in the air for the Preakness. Danza is the only horse in the derby i could have seen catching Chrome if he didn't get into so much trouble.

If Danza runs in the Preakness, IMO he will not win & his shot in belmont is out the window.

Pletcher should run him fresh at Belmont. Hoppertunity IMO can't beat Chrome.

Will we see a triple crown winner? IMO, yes.......reason being is the 3 year old crop this year is very weak.

Lmao@Ria Antonia running in the Preakness. I hope she doesn't break down running with boys.

The owner has completely lost his head......he's nuts! He switched from Baffert to Amoss knowing Baffert would never agree to racing her in the Preakness vs boys, ley alone 2 weeks after she ran.

TCG,

Nope, not much at all........................................................I very rarely ever say this, but this may be a race with say 6 or 7 horses and not even worth watching..............and the Preakness normally is not much of a 'payday' type of race to begin with.............................

Hopefully some competition comes forward, strange how there are not too many Derby horses ready to stand up.................just a very weak 3 year old crop.....................

Fact:

fresh horses run ing in the Preakness don't do well at all & only 2 horses from derby are running in Preakness Chrome & Ride Curlin & I don't see ROC winning.

Danza is 50/50 on running in it.

Kudos to Linda Rice and the "Kid Cruz" team for keeping Julian Pimentel aboard for the Preakness......
Pimentel knows Pimlico very well, which is a huge plus.....

Pimlico is identical to Churchill. Some say the turns are tighter but their not.

Worst three words in racing .... "can not lose"

Why, how, did it happen ..... been solidly debated ever since 1956 and even the jockey, Dick Francis, could not explain it. Horse wasn't damaged.

To this day debate rages as to why Devon Loch jumped - cramp, cheers from the crowd, a possible heart attack. Whatever the cause, the 1956 race has gone down in history as one of the most dramatic Grand National finishes ever.

Not only does Chrome have to beat the other horses in the field which I think he will easily, he's gotta have some luck as far as health goes.

I mean, I can't begin to imagine if I had bet Barbaro heavy in the preaknes to win & Exactas only to have my money go down the drain as the race started.

Did the trainer know that the horse had any legs or feet problems before the race? Its definitely a possibility he did know but still ran him.

Didn't Big Brown run with a quarter crack in Belmont? But that was public knowledge if I remember correctly.

Chrome is in tip top shape & the guy that has been bringing the horses back from the track to the winners circle past 9 years said hes never seen a horse as fresh as Chrome aftet running the derby.........Chrome couldnt blow out a match he was quoted as saying.

The horse prancing & dancing after the race......in fact, he was hot before the race & was cool afterwards, never seen anything like it.

He's been eating all his oats & this morning walked around Churchill.

He was on his bit to run but Sherman said they will gallop him out tomorrow.

It was a cold exacta, Chrome with Danza if he ran.

We still have 10 running with a possibility of several more to enter next week. The more, the merrier.........

I like Kid Cruz a lot for 2nd in the exacta.

I'm looking at this exacta & triple but I will wait for post positions to finalize:

Exactas: Chrome w/ Social Inclusion & Kid Cruz

Triple: Chrome keyed w/ Social Inclusion, KidCruz, Dynamic Impact

I think Bayern will be off the board even tho he had a wicked fast workout......

Beyern is green and needed last few races. Beyern is dangerous, extremely dangerous. Feel good story would be Rosie winning Preakness or even getting a piece of the money on her home track, where she started. I know exactly how this race sets up, with a few speed balls in here. Will one of the speed balls hold up or will California Chrome stalk off the speed duel and pounce on them turning for home. The X factor for CC is how he handles coming back in two weeks. If he handles it well it won't matter who runs or what the pace is like. Should be interesting because the distance is Taylor made for CC's style...

Yours in Winners
BernieV

****According to his trainer CC reminds him of Swaps, that's definitely good enough for this field as it was in the Derby

****According to Bob Baffert Bayern is like Bodemeister, only better and that is good enough to beat everyone BUT CC

I agree, Bayern got very tired in his last race. I think he's a miler & possibly 1 1/6 distance race horse.

I don't see Bayern doing much in a G1 race, especially at 1 3/6.
