Won't the Yankee's new stadium be open then? I heard a Rangers Bruins game in the new stadium. makes sense to me. Unless they want a Canadian team involved.

probably so...

i'd say the boston / ranger matchup has to be odds on favorite for next year.

Yup. Think about it. What would be better for hockey in the US than a rivalry between NY and Boston like the Yankees and Red Sox have now? Especially in a brand new Billion dollar Yankee stadium.

The word around here in Detroit is they want to have one at the Big House! (U of M Stadium after renovations are complete in 2010)

They could fill 120,000......

It would obviously be a game between the...

Leafs/Wings......

Two original six teams.......+ with the two teams only 4 hrs. of drive time away, Leaf fans and people from Ontario would travel for it....it makes total sense for this to happen....What they would probably do is, have a double header....

Michigan State/Michigan would play the first game

and the the Wings/Leafs......this way you would get MORE people because of the two college teams playing....it would be a great day on that campus......but it wont happen, it makes to much sense!

I also say Fenway w/the Bruins/Rangers. This way the NHL can feature (ie. market) some "young stars" such as Lucic, Krecji, Kessel and Lundqvist (much like they did w/the Hawks' Kane/Toews). They can also play off the whole Boston/NY rivalry, Original Six, etc. Plus Red Sox owner, John W. Henry, is more likely to pimp out Fenway than the Steinbrenner's are to ruin the brand new field at Yankee Stadium.

F'ck Boston!

Habs at B's would be a great matchup. Just can't stand the thought of the game being played at Fenway.

The time to do a game at Yankee stadium was this year, (in the old house), not next in a new stadium that has zero history.

A game at Fenway would be a perfect venue. Between it's bandbox size, history, and old school architecture there is no better dramatic stage for next year's game. There is no doubt in my mind ,the best seat in the house would be one from the monster seats.

As far as a opponent. Bruins fans could care less about the Rangers. They want Montreal. While Boston hates New York and vice versa, the true hockey rival of Boston, throughout their entire history, is Montreal.

After two years of four American teams in this "classic" series, the true home of hockey deserves a representative next year. There is no better fit than the Canadians.

Vic--I agree. The year to do it at Yankee Stadium would've been this year given the history.

I also agree that Canadian teams deserve a shot, and who better than the Canadiens (again given the history).

I just hate the Red Sox and it would kill me to see it in Fenway. But no argument here with your proposed matchup and venue.

This is such an obvious #1 choice. Very well said.
