2008 WSOP Team RX discussion thread

One tournament online for one entry to the World Series.

Let's be realistic here:

We can have qualifiers throughout the year, with free satellite entries.

We can do steps, or whatever.

I'm thinking we can get one to five entries to the WSOP next year if we plan early enough.

Is this realistic or doable?

Mods, specifically SS, any chance of sponsorship.

If not, no problemo.

I'm thinking way in advance, like next April or so.

Poster would have to put up $10 dollars, as well as someone who would play if they can't make it.

Also, would follow some of the site and give a travel allowance for hotel and airfare.

Just throwing stuff out there, wouldn't want some BS where we try something and like 24 people show up to play.

That's why I'm thinking heats throughout the year. That way, you could get lucky for even less.

I'm an idiot and drunk, you're math is correct.

Let's figure out a way to do this with an entry fee to the main event (that is what we are looking at, not the preliminary at least in my eyes), where it's not a ridiculous amount of people (that's why the 100 figure came into my head, as that is doable) and not a huge buy-in via satellite (honestly I know the average Rx poster and $100 won't work but 10 or twenty will).

Let's keep this an open discussion. A 10-person $1000 a pop satellite is doable, but that is not the point as what I am focusing on is rallying behind and rooting on OUR entry.

Agreed that we need more buy-ins or higher buy-in amount. Difficulty is finding the breaking point where we can get a good amount of the community to participate.

i don't see what we are doing here....so we have 100 guys put in $100 each, but only 20 guys (10 1st team and 10 alt) get to the show?

Do we have an rx tourney to decide who goes? Do we split proceeds (at least initial $100) if someone cashes big?

As fucked as it sounds, I'm def. in!

We have no plan right now Shadow, other than my goal is to try and get one of more Rx'ers to play in the WSOP next year (Team Rx baby). how it happens, is completely open for discussion.

I bring it up now because it seems every year we have this idea, but we don't plan ahead and by then it's too late.

Unless Rx or any other sponsors throw money into the pot, we are under no obligation.

Of course, you will see me blithering drunk at the final table talking 'bout my "boys" TTinco, Wil, RobFunk, and SS at the Rx in my Full Tilt "look I'm gay and had no attention in high school" hockey jersey, but that is besides the point.

Right now, we are shooting out ideas with no Rx or pokersite sponsorship (other than obviously we need to find a site to play some tourneys on as we are geographically diverse).

If someone want to screw the site after advancing via virtual free roll, or $10 or so, that is on their conscious not ours.

now we need to start some sort of discussion as to realistic prospects for this.

I emphasize REALISTIC prospects. Let's make this fairly cheap so that "Rx common poster" can win, but also that people make some sort of commitment.

I'd be happy to try and present something to some of the poker site although I don't think I would have much, if any, sway in the gaming or offshore environment today.

I also think we would have to look at sites to hold our
"satellites or satellite" at. Obviously, if we are looking at a majority of American as participants we can narrow those candidate down to a handful at best.
