Tennessee at #18. I expect them to stay right around there! If the can go lossless in September, that would be beautiful. Sadly, I think its damn near impossible for these boys!

I was a senior at ASU in the student section the last time a preseason #1 team came rolling into Tempe. Nebraska's winning streak came to an end and the goalposts went for a nice ride down Mill Avenue.

How does the turf taste Scott Frost?

Just like Jake the Snake back in the day, Rudy Carpenter is a fiery competitor. Jake took his lumps for 3 years, so did Rudy. Rudy gets it done. Deja Vu.

Beano Cook's take on number 1 Georgia:

POSTED 7:08 a.m. EST, July 31, 2008
"IF GEORGIA GOES 13-0 THEY SHOULD BE IN THE SUPER BOWL"
As he is wont to do, ESPN's resident college football historian Beano Cook engaged in a bit of hyperbole on his weekly college football podcast this week. Said Cook of Georgia fans saying they expected their team to go undefeated, "If Georgia goes 13-0, they should be in the Super Bowl."
But, as Cook is also wont to do, he made a good point: It would be extraordinary for the Bulldogs to make it through that 2008 schedule without a loss.
Obviously, playing eight SEC opponents is going to be difficult, and if they win their division they'll also play a ninth game for the conference title. But the non-conference schedule is tougher than the Dawgs are used to, with a trip to Arizona State on September 20 and the Georgia Tech rivalry on November 29, a week before the SEC Championship Game.
Even Central Michigan on September 6, which Georgia scheduled with the intention of giving itself an early-season cupcake, is no walkover: CMU is the two-time defending MAC champion, with most of its top players back. I'm not saying Central Michigan will beat Georgia, but I am saying Georgia can't just treat the game as a scrimmage.
So, yes, if Georgia runs the table and then wins the SEC Championship Game, they'll be in the BCS title game, and that might not even be their toughest test. My own prediction: The Bulldogs will be in the FedEx BCS National Championship Game, but they won't be there with an unblemished record.

LSU is a little high IMO, and I would have USC as the #1 team, but overall that is a good list. Alabama or South Carolina should be ranked over Fresno St though, and possibly Michigan.

I was there too.

Unfortunately, Jake had a lot better line than Rudy does. I believe 4 of those guys played in the NFL. Let's hope DE has things staightened out. It can't get worse, right?

Jake had a great team around him his senior year. But in Jake's freshman through junior season's, the Devils went 15-18. ASU was not even ranked in the top 25 going into that 1996 season.

The O-Line pass protection last year was horrible now doubt. Rudy was sacked something like 55 times.

Erickson knows what he is doing. You will see a different philosophy on offense this year. More 4 wide out sets with 3 step drops.

7 starters return on offense, 7 on defense. The WR core will be sick.

I have a feeling this defense is going to be outstanding as well. Look for a couple of JC transfers to come in and really make a difference on both sides of the ball.
