2008 NFL pick contest... a few questions....

As usual, the money will be held at betjamaica and there will be a 20% sweetner added to the prize pool, so needless to say this is a fantastic contest with a great +EV advantage to all.

I need everyone to answer a few questions.

1) how much should it be? 300$ or 400$

2) should we change this from 4 to 5 games per week? This way it would be the same as Hilton and Carib contests.

3) Should we make the pick deadline earlier, say Saturay at Noon, to prevent the last minute folks who are simply looking for line moves to have more of an advantage?

Please only chime in and post opinions if you plan on playing.

4 picks is perfect why change that?

place the NFL sunday games by saturday noon? Id say no. good to see some picks from RX cappers, TV guys, weather conditions, injury info, line moves, plus sunday morning is more NFL time than Saturday morning which is hard enough getting your stuff in for college football..

the thought of changing to 5 was to mirror the hilton contest....

The reason for considering earlier picks is to diminish the amount of stale lines, it could even be done by Friday Nite Midnte, again, I beleive its an early time for the Hilton contest as well, I beleive it makes it more of a "capping" contest.

I'd say 5 games, and 3 or 4 hundo is fine, also have no problem with a deadline of say Sat Midnight Pacific...

why changes it from the pick 4...who benefits from matching the Hilton. it s the famout PICK4-contest

i totally against early deadlines.
first of all most of us capping games on game day, because thats when all the info is available.
you have to consider weather,injuries or even other inside you can get here on the board....whatever tools you use, most of them will be available on game day, so picking the day before amkes it more of a guessing than really capping and picking contest....it would not be attractive at all to me.

i also dont think that any good cappers wait for the others to post and copy picks, especially early in the season. we have already the non-copy rule towards the end of the contest, which should be enough.

i also dont see a problem with guys posting late or forgetting it....it s enough money involved that everybody has interest to match deadlines and the strict way we handled penalties in the past should help to get less and less picks. i dont see that as a problem for the contest anyway.

to sum it up....why change something which is very sucessful for many years.

my theory is just becoz something isnt broken, dont mean it cant be improved?

Surely the 2009 version of the Honda Accord is better than the 2006 Version? Even Tho the 2006 version is a fantistic and reliable car.

Of course I am always interested in the feedback of the players, so if everyone likes it EXACTLY as is, then that will most likely be the format.

TheRX's 4th Annual ‘Pick 4’ NFL Post Up Contest (sponsored by BetJamaica)

Bring some excitement to the NFL season with this 300$ post up contest sponsored by Bet Jamaica. It’s easy! Make 4 point spread selections each week of the NFL season, pick winners and win some cash!!

BetJamaica will be adding 20% cash bonus to all deposits made as a sweetener for the contest.


How it Works:

-Make 4 point spread selections each week throughout the NFL season.

-Choose your games from the list of lines made available in a special folder that will be set up, in the contest section of the site found here.

-Post your selections in the “Lines and Picks Thread” exactly as instructed. (Misposted plays will be graded as NO ACTION.)

-Plays must be posted by 1255 EST each week.

-Plays will be graded based on standard vig, -110 for losers and +100 for winners.

-Contest will be graded weekly after MNF.

-Lines will be posted each Wednesday evening

-Contest will be held in the in a special folder in the 'CONTEST' section of the site.

-Contest begins the first weekend of NFL football with Thursday September 6^th games.



How to Play:

STEP 1. Open an account with BetJamaica.com by clicking Here (You MUST click through this link to be eligible for prizes.) If you already have an account at BetJamaica.com, continue to Step 2.

STEP 2. Post up your account with a minimum of $300USD, If you already have a funded BetJamaica account you can proceed to step three.

STEP 3. Send an email to banking@betjm.com asking them to transfer 300$USD from your account to holding account # (8900) for the "RX PICK 4 contest".

STEP 4. Once the funds have been removed from your account send me an email as follows

Prizes:

Cash Prizes will be dependent on the number of entries. Every dollar taken in will be given back with an additional 20% generously added by BetJamaica.com. Once number of entries is confirmed, prize structure will be defined (before week 1).

*There is no rollover to the 'Cash' portion of the contest. The 20% BONUS portion that BetJamaica is adding must be rolled over 3X.


Rules and Regulations:

-All plays are considered final and cannot be changed once posted
-Official grading rules will be the same as Betjamaica’s official grading rules.
-One entry per member, per household, per IP address.
-Plays must be posted as instructed, or will be graded NO ACTION.
-Missed plays will be graded as losses.
-Only one post with your selections per day. Maximum 4 plays per day. If you make an error posting your selections, you will be stuck with your error. You may use "Preview Post" to make sure you dont make an error. There is No editing, You cannot have your error corrected, there will be no emailing to MODS. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR POST BEFORE SUBMITTING.
-EMAILING of plays will be allowed on the final 2 weeks of the contest, and selections will be posted shortly after 1pm EST kickoff
-If an obvious mistaken line is posted, plays made on that mistaken line will be graded NO ACTION. Should you notice a mistake in a line, please contact the contest moderator immediately. We reserve the right to change the line on any game if there is a mistake.
-Rules are not negotiable. Please do not ask to have them changed
-If there is ever a conflict in the rules, the contest Moderator will have to make a judgment call, that judgment call is final
-During the course of the contest, from time to time, the contest moderators will be required to make a judgment call or rule on a situation, their ruling will be final and will not be open for debate.
-TheRX.com and BetJamaica.com reserve the right to change, add or delete any rule. (These decisions are final and not open for debate)
