Spurs were gifted the win of the Phoenix series by NBA management. Phoenix deserves to be playing now, and in my opinion the Champions of the 2007 NBA season will be a phony and deserve a big asterik by their name in the history books.

Will never know, but I would've liked their chances. They were robbed by the stupidiest rule in all of sports. Let's reward the team that commits a severe flagrant foul.

NBA needs to change the format of the playoffs rename it the Fantastic Four
heard this suggestion on ESPN radio top 8 each conference make playoffs.
seed 1-8 like they do now however when they get down to four teams 2 from each conference that would be your Fantastic Four (Final Four is already copyrighted) at this point they cross over and play the other conference Lowest seed left from West plays the Highest seed left from East and the Low seed left from the East plays the Hi seed left from the West.

So this years Fantastic Four would have been

Clev vs. Phox
SA vs. Det

This way you would have had a SA and Phx finals and like the host said save the best matchup for last.

I don't care that San Antonio is still playing. What bothered me is that it's just anothering case of a governing body being very closed minded and inflexible, kinda like dubya. I'd like to see the NBA pay for their lack of commpn sense.

Please explain to us all what Phoenix did to deserve to be playing in the finals - forget game 5 which the Spurs won - the Suns played SA 5 times and lost 3 of them in which all of their players played and Horry sat one game - so what did they do to deserve anything? - now, back to game 5 in which we must only assume the Suns would have won if Amare played - well he played in Game 6 and had 38 points and the Suns got murdered in the game - like I said, explain to us all what the Suns did to deserve playing in the finals - they managed to win 2 games - it's a 4 game series you fucking idiot.

Surprised you did not mention the GIFT of Dallas getting upset too. That was their real big gift. They are earning it though and will glady take the breaks they got.

The rule is the rule - though it certainly seems unfair - eventually, all the players will obey it or the league will allow for discretion in its application.

When Dallas went out I knew it was a layup for SA - no one else had a chance in hell of beating SA - but that's the sorry ass Mavs fault and it's not SA's fault the eastern confernce should be split up - the Suns were the toughest team SA played, then Denver, then the Jazz and last the Cavs - and they play the Cavs in the finals - it makes no sense.

It makes no sense with the East being this weak. It was not their fault. Spurs are earning it. No doubt.

I'll give you a hint - it's the 4 time world champions and soon to be 5, 6 or 7 time world champs - it will be a sad day for me when Duncan retires and the Spurs form the doormat of the league - I know what a total fluke it was to get Duncan - he should have been in Boston from day one - the only reason why SA got Tim was because soft ass Robinson got hurt and the Spurs missed the playoffs and hit jackpot in the lottery - the least amount of balls but they get the first pick? - I'm surprised no one has said SA rigged the ping ball machine and cheated there too - you've got to make good personel decisions but it's total luck when you get one of these players that make a dynasty - do you think the Bulls had any remote clue that Jordan would turn out to be what he was?

Seymour,

Game 5 was do or die for Phoenix. Their starter's especially Nash played way too many minutes because of the short bench. The lack of rest for the starter's showed in the fouth Qtr, and subsequently in Game 6. Were all entitled to our opinion's but I believe San Antonio was by far the fresher team in the Fourth qtr of game 5, and all of game 6. Ginobli, Duncan & Parker got way more rest in Game 5, than Nash.

They will need to do something the NBA finals ratings suck more and more each year TV isnt going to continue throwing big bucks at the NBA if the ratings keep getting worse.

Football dont need to be fixed the superbowl could have Detriot play Houston this year and it would get record ratings the superbowl is now a party day for americans and it dont matter who plays in the game people will watch

Yeah well being from Boston we know all about Duncan. He was the prize and you got him.

Today in the Boston Globe was an article on Tony Parker. The Spurs were real lucky to get him too. Do you know how many bums were taken ahead of him? The Celts wanted him but Red insisted on Joe Forte from NC...and many many other teams did the same thing. Parker bombed his first NBA tryout with SA but got once last chance and played great. You have to get lucky with the draft and personel decisions and they did.

One change I've noticed is that it appears the ref's are letting the players decide outcome of games. Less fouls are being called. I believe this is good for any sport, referee's don't need to decide the outcome of games. It's good for them to swallow their whistle except for obvious fouls or violations, or end of game situations.
