Colorado will win the North. Among their 19 returning starters is a 2 year starter at QB in Joel Klatt and maybe the best TE in the country in Joe Klopfenstein. They also have the best kicker in the country in Mason Crosby. They are weak at RB but don't be suprised if their FB, Lawrence Vickers, gets a lot of carries. Nebraska also comes to Boulder this year which helps.

How can someone not consider Iowa an elite team? Haven't they been a top ten team the last 3 years? With the Ex Raven coach Kirk Ferenz at the helm, they are an elite team.

Iowa has won the Big 10 2 out of the last 3 years. They are one of 4 teams that finished in the top 10 each of the last 3 years (USC, Georgia, Oklahoma).

Non conference game of the year = Texas at Ohio St - Primtime at the shoe, doesn't get any better than that.

These writers must be getting Iowa confused with Iowa St, because they sure as hell will not be #2 in the north come December.

Didn't Iowa St share the top spot in the north last year?? A missed FG cost them outright division title. They will be better this year...although i do agree i don't think they will win it. McCarney doing a fine job at building that program into a reputable team. The division is very weak so anything possible there. 2 straight over Nebraska as well.

I stand by my statement. They may not be worse, but the North will be tougher than last year.

Should we forget K St???

1 bad year and they are ignored!

Nebraska has a lousy coach, and that can not be disputed. Missouri has an underachieving coach. Colorado has to worry about on and off field issues, and a lack of depth.

That leaves improving Iowa State and one year from a BCS game K St. Case closed!

Oh, and by the way, check out Kansas on defense last year. They could win 6 and surprise some of the so-called favorites this year.
