Had my tooth knock out in when I was playing flag football three years ago. Cost me around 1500$ to have an implant put in. I have dental and the total bill was around 4600$. I had to wear some bullshit retainer for about 3 weeks until the swelling went down and they got it installed. Feels and looks just like a real one. Took about 1 week to get the cylinder implanted into the bone and and the next 10 days or so for the tooth to be placed. Not that bad, hope it helps

Well the dentist removed the piece of the tooth that remained and got rid of two of my bottom teeth that were already loose and actually still baby teeth since i had no adult teeth there. Missing 4 teeth and the retainer wont be ready till Friday. They said it will be a few months before i can get the implants and a total of like 8-10 months before everything is finished. I look like an ugly hockey player at the moment

i've never heard of missing adult teeth after the baby ones fall out, is that common? are there temporary teeth attached to the retainer? it's good you got the process started, hang in there.

Hmm, interesting . The timing of implant placement is in the hands of the dentist . Significant advantages lay with immediate implant placement (especially in the front)- specifically you get ur teeth quicker, more importantly minimize bone loss/soft tissue loss (CRITiCAL in the front area to maximize aesthetics ). To give U an idea of the extent of bone atrophy, expect 50% loss horizontally after 12 months , 2-4 mm vertically- do not wait that long, or else you'll need a hard tissue graft (more monies more time ). However not everyone is a candidate for immediate implant placement , perhaps u weren't ? -Did he mention this to u?How old are u? Do u smoke ? When u smile , do u see a lot of gum? The two teeth u lost beside each other? Did he put a graft after he extracted the root, or left the socket empty?

gl- great case!!

Yea, I already had a weird mouth to begin with. Took years of braces/retainers/building up baby teeth/and a bridge to get me where I was. I had 3 teeth that had no adult teeth behind them. 2 still hdnt fallen out but they took them out yesterday since they were hanging by a thread

To be honest, I didn't understand half the stuff they were talking about, but the dentist seemed like they knew what they were doing. They said they have to wait some in order for stuff to heal. I don't smoke, but he said i have a small jaw for my size. I think they are going to replace the 2 bottom teeth with just 1 tooth because there isnt much room there. Im 23 years old, when I smile-you don't see too much teeth. Not sure if I answered everything right, I was more confused the whole time and just wanted to get the process started.

Gotcha. I'll fire the following as my last post on the matter , that said feel free to ask me anything - I may or may not be able to answer . At 23, very young , bone level should be fantastic - for whatever reason he's doing the case following the protocol of 'delayed immediate implant placement'. All good. A few points . You're young , you want the implants to last a long time and look as natural as possible. Don't be shy to ask him questions , he'll be more than happy to answer . Don't forget the following - ALL dental work eventually has to be re-placed has a lifespan , just like anything. To increase its lifespan? Follow guidelines of maintenance

important notes:
-after all is Finished, you have ur teeth, he will make a night guard . WEAR IT . If he doesn't make one ASK him for it
- have to explain components so you'll get what follows it. It's simple:
implant- the new root of the tooth . Placed INTO the bone. Bone grows around it, 'locks' it
abutment- will be placed AFTER 3 mths of healing . Connects the implant to the crown (the part u see when u smile ). It is screw retained into the implant .torqued in
crown - it is placed on top of the abutment - voila , u have ur new tooth!! It can either be cemented or screw retained into the abutment, up to the dentist.
Now, given all that ensure these two things :
1. The abutment is made of zirconia. Pay the extra . Ensures maximum aesthetics . Zirconia is white , not a metal . No blush hue thru the gum
2. The crown is screw retained into the abutment , NOT cemented !why ? Retrievability . Ur 23, cold LOCK one component will need to be replaced , adjusted (most often the screw that locks the abutment to the implant will loosen) eventually .

Appreciate the help man. I wrote this stuff down and will see what they say when I go in tomorrow to get the temporary flippers to put in my mouth. I am struggling to pronounce a lot of words with these missing teeth, I never realize how important teeth are. Ill pm you if I have any other questions
