and while you will NEVER get the lakers to publicly admit it - they'd rather have NOTHING to do with the spurs as long as possible.
if the kings lose @ the warriors (they could - but probably won't - but if they do) a lakers win puts them as the #2 seed - and playing houston in round 1. if the lakers lose - they are #4 - and play dallass in round 1. wanna guess which team the lakers would rather play? not a tough guess.
we move on to round 2. if the lakers win the west - they will play the spurs in round 2. BUT - they will NOT have HCA (especially when the spurs trash the nuggets wednesday - in what is a meaningless game for the nuggets - but everything to the spurs who MUST win the game to get HCA in round 2 - which they want cuz
they are 32-8 @ home this season and getting G7 of the WC semis is what they want) if they lose and the lakers win (and the kings lose - still with me here). as i said earlier - lakers want NOTHING to do with the spurs as long as possible. also - if the lakers aren't gonna get HCA in a series with them - try and push
them off as long as possible - hoping the kings can beat them in the WC semis. if the lakers lose @ the blazers - they get the #4 seed - and a 2nd round matchup with the wolves. again - ask the lakers privately who they'd want in round 2 - wolves or spurs - TO A MAN they will ALL say wolves. the only way they get the wolves is by losing wednesday.
losing at portland is nothing new to the lakers - who have lost their last 3 in portland (by 4, 2 then 12) and got a 1 point win before that). LA has is also 2-13 SU the L15 in portland.
cool with me. the blazers HATE the lakers and would love nothing more than to ruin the lakers' chances of winning the western division and pushing the lakers to the 4 seed - which as i said - is what the lakers want.
the spurs/nuggets game starts @ 5:30P (PDT) while the lakers start @ 7P - meaning before the lakers' game starts - the spurs will be at halftime. the lakers will know what the spurs are doing - and when the spurs are up the lakers will come out with a "f**k it" attitude.
the lakers are a money burning 13-26-1 ATS on the road and 6-11-1 ATS in B2B games. portland is not much better ATS wise at home at 20-20-1 and playing on 1 days rest ATS they are 21-25-0 but they are also 25-15 SU at home while the lakers are 21-19 - meaning they are around a 50-50 team on the road SU.
this spot and the factors behind it all push me to the blazers - and in a strong way. honestly - i'll be shocked if this game is even close (blazers by 2B digits).

grizz are locked into #6 seed - regardless of how they do here and this is 3 in 4 for grizz. wolves MUST win to get #1 overall.
with this in mind - does anyone expect the grizz to even show up tonite? they played last night in dallass and now have to play a rested and motivated wolves team.
to use a phrase of someone i know - this one has "kill job" written all over it.
