Two value bets for today are Philadelphia +130 to beat Montreal in NHL and Under 59 in the New Mexico vs Nevada NCAA Football game. In the NHL game Montreal's big winning streak was ended when Columbus bombarded them with 10 goals on their back up goalie Montaya. But it wasn't all Montoya's fault as he had no help from his teammates--most of Columbus shots were uncontested by the defenders and Columbus simply had too many good open looks. Now they are facing Philadelphia, a team coming in with some momentum, on back to back nights. Starting goalie Price will be in the net for Montreal but even Price won't be able to make stops if Montreal gives up as many open looks as yesterday. It might be another game or two before Montreal fixes everything and we can expect another loss today. The +130 on Philadelphia has value today considering the momentum of these two teams.
Next, the under 59 in Neveda/New Mexico has good value considering the situation today. We had the Under in New Mexico's last game against Hawaii posted here and that bet cashed nicely even though New Mexico was going into that game with having played 11 straight over games. New Mexico runs 90% of their possession and Nevada runs over 60% of their possession. Nevada also likes to slow the game down and drain the clock when they play on the road. New Mexico is coming back to the country all the way from Hawaii and that should have effect the pace of play as well. This total of 59 is somewhat inflated given New Mexico's past over games. Expect each drive drain a lot of clock even if there was scoring in most of the possession and the 59 is still too much to reach even with all the scoring. We can see this game going over only if it goes to Overtime.
