I took the same oath in McHale's Navy and still have yet to get off of this Island. Thank god a satellite and computer drifted ashore.

to The General and all those who have served in the US armed forces!!!

To everyone else, next time you think about critiquing the military, ask yourself if you are willing to pick up a gun and go to a foreign land to defend this country. Until then, STFU.

Personally, I don't agree with all the military's policies or the politics involved but frankly, I don't think I have a right to say chit since I have not and am not willing to fight.

I could have retired from the United States Marine Corps in 4 years. The dumbest thing I ever did was get out.

Great life and lessons.

Gotta move on. Cant go back.

I can honestly say that I was *going* to join, but the Army guy didn't take to kindly to my thyroid condition (Grave's disease--not really serious at all). After 90 minutes of lobbying me, 30 secs after I mentioned this he was out the door!

Serious Question: "defend the Constitution of the United States against all ENEMIES, foreign and DOMESTIC", "I will obey the orders of the President of the United States". What if they are one in the same?

I think that would be deemed by the Congress of the United States and passed along to all military commanders.

First swore the oath in 1981. 10 years active duty Air Force, another 4 in the reserves. Some tough times, but incredibly good ones.

I don't know..

What about in the Godfather when Sonny calls those who enlisted "saps"..."Your country's not your blood, and you remember that"

Marine By God

The USMC is over 219 years of romping, stomping, hell, death and destruction. The finest fighting machine the world has ever seen. We were born in a bomb crater, our mother was an M-16 and our father was the devil.

Each moment that I live is an additional threat upon your life. I am a rough looking, roving soldier of the sea. I am cocky, self-centered, overbearing, and I do not know the meaning of fear, for I am fear itself. I am a green, amphibious monster made of blood and guts who arose from the sea, festering on anti-Americans throughout the globe. Whenever it may arise, and when my time comes, I will die a glorious death on the battle field, giving my life to mom, the Corps, and the American flag.

We stole the eagle from the Air Force, the anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army. On the 7th day, while God rested, we over-ran his perimeter and stole the globe, and we've been running the show ever since. We live like soldiers and talk like sailors and slap the hell out of both of them. Soldier by day, lover by night, drunkard by choice, MARINE BY GOD!!!
