yeah for a few weeks. went out to the smaller islands, met some great locals....incredibly hospitable people....one guy took us to his "house" and introduced us to his family, took us camping on an uninhabited island (at the time anyway)....we helped him clear land for a few days as he wanted to start a hostel....he and his boys killed a wild goat for dinner (they corner it and beat it with rocks...no joke...."goat whacking").....very gamey meat....
there is a lot of underlying tension there between indigenous fijians and fijian indians (brought from india to fiji while it was a colony)
I was checking out some of my pics from that trip a few weeks ago....great times...spent 6 mos backpacking through thailand, indo, australia, new zealand and fiji...incredible diving and memories
