They have started.

Getting Trent Brown from Oakland for a fifth round future draft pick will be one of the steals of the offseason.

Left tackle Trent Brown is a beast.

What I'm hoping for now is either Alabama WR, Waddle or Smith in the draft.

Then my personal pick of signing Jameis Winston (see if Belli can teach him ball discipline in offense that doesn't need to be Bruce Arians come from behind bombs away).

Then maybe TE Pate Freiermuth, out of Penn State in the second round and one of Hunter Henry, Joanu Smith, or Jared Cook in free agency as a second tight end.

And this offense can come alive again.

Don't ever forget that Bill Belichick is still behind the door.

That offense was completely depleted in Brady's last year with the Pats and then again last year. Despite what you might hear, that is the reason Brady moved on. Notice he went to a team that was offensively stacked and then brought his boys in - Gronk and Antonio Brown.

Don't forget that Gronk had retired the year before Brady packed out of New England. And Edelman was breaking down from being the toughest SOB running short routes over the middle that I have ever seen. Plus that last year Brady lost his All Pro center to a freak ailment right before the season began. Guess who else he lost before that fateful last season began? Yep, the guy the Pats just got back today - his beast of a left tackle, Trent Brown.

The Pats will rebuild with talent. They started today by getting Trent Brown back.

Oh I agree. Was just busting your balls

I think New England is a playoff team this year. It will be interesting to see what they do at QB. I have full faith they'll be a great defensive team

It will be a major achievement if the Pats get back to the Playoffs this year. Miami and Buffalo are now ahead of them. And those teams are GOOD.

But if the Pats do as I'd like to see as outlined above they will have a shot. With offensive talent added the Pats will still scare the shit out of opposing coaches who have to play them. Why? Because of our coach and what he can do with less than All Pro talent.

You really want Winston Michel??

Him being gone was the biggest part to our success this year (Tampa's)

Brady:
40 TDs
12 INTs

Winston:
33 TDs
30 INTs

I'd take my chances on Cam II over Winston

And of course Brady's numbers are going to be better than Winston's, c'mon man

With the most salary cap instead of the least, Bill's shopping list is going to be significantly enhanced

but they are starting so far behind most every other team talent wise .. the fact that your team had such an extreme lack of talent should
give you the caution u need to chill out about their "talent"

Obviously Jameis Winston is not Tom Brady. No one will replace Brady.

But the Pats need to start somewhere. Cam was not even close to the answer. His accuracy sucks and he just is no longer a special talent in this league.

Winston, however still has a super arm and can run a little. He needs coaching. His coach at Tampa was Bruce Arians, a guy who loves to throw bombs. Mix that in with the fact that Tampa was often playing from behind and you get a reckless, undisciplined QB. That was Jameis Winston in Tampa.

He's now been around a while and undoubtedly got humbled by what transpired for him over the past year. Like moving on and watching your old team win the SB as soon as you moved. Like being hired in New Orleans to back up Drew Brees and then when the need arose it was Taysom Hill who Payton chose to go under center.

I think he may be ready to listen to a Billy B and try to resurrect his career by altering his game to a more disciplined predominantly short game under the tutelage of the master. He still has a big upside. Much bigger than most of the other free agent QBs in my opinion. Belli can sign him cheap and see if he can retrain him. If he doesn't work out, so be it. The quest for a QB resumes next year. This offense needs to take chances if they expect to be better than mediocre. Last year they may have been the worst offense in the NFL. Get some solid pieces (like Trent Brown), resign Andrews under center, and take a chance at QB, get the skilled WR in the draft, and find tight ends who can play either in the draft or through free agency. That's my formula.

Had some sharp provolone from a local Italian deli on my homemade sub just two hours ago. Yum. Almost as fun as rooting for our former guys in Tampa Bay on SB Sunday.

I had fun cheering for Brady & Gronk, made easy by the fact that they were playing the Chiefs. No dynasty for you.

We all will forever be grateful to Brady and the unprecedented run he was part of

But we're Patriots fans first, and in Belichick I trust. Only when he retires does his era end. One bizarre season of covid, no salary cap space and opt outs doesn't close the books in my world. It just is what it is, we'll just have to let time do it's thing
