Voting currently underway. Results to come later tonight. Discuss in here as dimocraps hopefully get the shit kicked out of them across the country.

Me and Mrs. JD got up bright and early before work (a foreign concept for many out here) to go do our civic duty and vote no on every single proposition listed on this year's ticket, almost all of which are basically tax increases endorsed by the dim party. One of them is a $7.1B bond the state wants to issue to do work on California's water system. This was our conversation on the way to vote:

Mrs: So if they issue bonds that have to be repaid, where do the funds come from to repay them when they're due?

Me: Where do you think?

Mrs: Tax money. So this is basically another tax increase in the end. Screw them, they already tax the residents plenty here. They can find the money from somewhere else.

God, do I love that woman.

Well JD we have 3 YES or NO votes here in Nevada.

1. Amend the Nevada constitution to appoint a 3 judge Court of Appeals. Reason being the Supreme Court in Nevada is backlogged. Of course I voted NO. If the Supreme Court actually worked more than 6 months out of the year it wouldn’t have a backlog.

2. Amend the Nevada constitution to remove the cap on taxation of mines, mining claims and minerals. Of course I voted NO. More taxes? I don’t think so.

And finally the whopper of them all…

3. A 2% tax on gross revenue for businesses over a 1 million to fund schools. Of course I voted NO. Can you believe these dick wads, they want to tax not the profit but the gross. If a business has a bad year and doesn’t show a profit they might as well just close their doors.

The unmitigated gall of some people.

Dave, we had six propositions. I voted no on every one. Here's the list:

Prop 1 - $7.12 billion bond for California's water system: Um, no.

Prop 2 - Increase amount of potential savings in the state 'rainy day' fund from 5% to 10% of the General Fund. "Rainy day," my ass. This would basically give state lawmakers a slush fund to use however they please. We'd likely see a sudden jump in "rainy days" in the state.

Prop 45- Public notice required for insurance company rates initiative: Because adding even more layers of bureaucracy always makes operations more efficient and keeps costs down.

Prop 46- Increase the cap on damages that can be assessed in medical negligence lawsuits to over $1 million: Just what we need...more ambulance-chasing lawyers tying up the system trying to get bigger paychecks.

Prop 47 - Reduces the classification of most nonviolent crimes from a felony to a misdemeanor: Well, felons can't vote...so we need to expand the dim voter base somehow...

Prop 48 - Ratification of gaming compacts with the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians and the Wiyot Tribe: Basically, allows Indian casinos to be built on non-Indian land. California already voted on that to be the case back in 2000.

I am also not a fan, but 2% on gross revenue is oversimplifying it.

The Nevada Margin Tax for Public Schools Initiative, Question 3 is on the November 4, 2014 ballot in the state of Nevada as an indirect initiated state statute. The measure, upon voter approval, would institute a two percent margin tax on businesses operating in Nevada that make more than $1 million. Revenue from the tax would be allocated to public schools, from kindergarten through high school, and kept in the State Distributive School Account.[SUP][1][/SUP]

I voted early this morning and nobody was there. I would suppose that the turnout is low overall in PA but who knows. They Dems need to wake up their LIV base and get them out of their drug addled haze and bus them to the polls and I've already been up for 4 hours before they even begin that process.

The two percent taxed margin could be determined using two different methods:

  1. Taxation of 70% of total revenue of the business.
  2. Taxation of a business’ total revenue minus compensation to owners and employers or cost related to goods sold. A business would choose whether to subtract compensation or cost of goods, but not both.

I'm not defending it, I think it's a terrible idea. Just wanted to let you know that it's not a straight 2% off the gross.
